Hows it going all.

Well I finally registered!!

I must say that I learned alot from just lurking, too bad I wasn't earlier.

I have a some-what converted garage 17'x11.4x8.6, concrete slab
with conventional wood stud/insulated drwalls. I made a"floating door" on the inside for the large doors, which makes a mini-trap door situation on the worst case sound proofing scenario.But I not too concerned with external noise coming or internal noise bothering neighbors. Also have some broadband bass traps based on Ethan's design.

Mainly a musician, and dabble in recording w/ occasional small projects coming in for various genre, but mostly jazz, funk, latin and some light rock. I am a latin percussionist and dabble on keys.

since I'm not totally finished with "my studio" I hope you guru's can support my questions, and I will input (prolly not much since you guys are more knowledgable than I) when I can:-)

So you were saying being katy-cornered (from Racks forum)
doesn't boost the bass as much to be thought, hmmmm.

I 've been considering that also from John's post. What I really need to do is make a rack because my monitoring enviroment is not symetrical-got a 6' rack that's not totally filled exactly to my left (approx 3') which creates a reflection. Somehow its not making me crazy (yet).

Being that my ceiling is 8.6' I understand that having a reflective
finish is a no no? Right now it has acoustical tiles screwed in on
the joists, and was thinking maybe covering it with ply. Any opinions on that? Its used as live/mixing so its confusing. Basically
its workable, but looking for more RT60 on the high end, or would taming low/mid be a better resoluton? Hey maybe I just answered my own question he he.. time for more resonators!!

Is there any space above the tiles?

If so you could place some rigid insulation up there, and just make the ceiling disappear (acoustically).
 
Well the ceiling space above the acoustical tiles has insulation R-13. Isn't the spec on acoustical tiles nearly null on the low end and real high on the high freq's, I think I saw that somewhere.

Are you suggesting that would be better than covering the existing with ply? It really is ugly.
