Pedulist, what is there to understand with the Delta omni? I'm just a simple salesman and I got it going straight out the box and using win 98 too

Well, it wasn't that difficult....it was more a problem of '-10db, 4db, 0db, balanced, unbalanced, all digital, wait a minute I don't have digital speakers, I have speakers with tiny analog connectors, the outputs of the omni are big jacks, I'm running out of cables, aaaaaargggh, maybe I should buy a mixer but I don't have the money (anymore), I don't have MIDI hardware modules, I don't have a mixer to connect it to...
I tried to connect it, no sound (yeah, I had a big hummmmmmmm), lots of frustation, just decided it wasn't for me.
Look, I like my Audigy: my 0ms latency soundfonts, headphone jack, my 2x midi in/out (both connected to my guitar and bass pods), optical out, cd connectors on the card for my cdrom players...
It works fast and easy. I have only 4 hours to write and record a whole song, so I don't want any hassle with external midi machines and mixers
I would love to hear a better sounding Audigy (Audigy2), preferably with better drivers (lower latency would be nice) or something that can replace it...but I haven't anyone who can advice me the right card.

Pedulist, the idea behind the omni is that you do not need an external mixer
All you need is a pair of decent monitor speakers (or an amp and speakers) and away you go
I used my soundblaster Platignum alongside the Delta 66 + omni just for soundfonts.
Now I use VSC And soon, kontakt

O well, when I feel a bit more relaxed about soundcards again I'll try again. Right now I'm way too frustrated...(too many people telling me what to buy and what to ditch, but when I do I can't help but feel disappointed)
Bought two high quality soundcards in one week (and returned them too)
The bad thing is: I sniffed at their sound and it sounds great, can't deny that.
Anyway....
Let's play some guitar! Yay!

I've used Delta 66 omni card for months (before it's broken on power failure <-- absolutelly not it's fault!!) along with SB Live! DE 5.1 card Using both is fun As Paul said. Use the Creative for MIDI thingee (soundfonts & external MIDI port), and the Delta for audio works (after you tired of MIDI ). I must admit, configuring Delta is a bit confusing first time, but it's not much harder than the SB cards Don't ditch the card yet, ditch the manual Snap it in, run the driver & firmware, rock on... I never had any probem with it But now, I must happy using only the SB Live! until I get bucks for either Terratec EWX 2496 or EWS 88MT

It's ditched already....bought myself a guitar instead.
My problem was: I thought 'replacement' whereas I should have thought 'extra'...
Like I said, I'll pick up the 'soundcard quest' when I feel better about it again!

Gee, I was just back to work (...new job on new company, actually ) Still on training days (...no need for it, but routine, what can I say ).
Peds, have I told you, that my younger brother will be in Den Haag & Roterdam durring July 19 ~ August 16 ? I'll tell him to meet you at any chance
..my problem now, with arival of two Zoom multi effects, I have to figure out again how to route the whole system. My mixers are rather small, thus don't have much buses, and I hate pluging - unpluging. Hmmm... I should consider one larger mixer...

Yep, I get automatic notification each time I get one.
And Jamez has a similar setup to me too.
I only needed to connect the "out" from the s/blaster to the "in" on the omni to playback midi. But as I posted earlier, I know use VSC for midi playback and soundfont management.

There's a rather long thread on Sound On Sounds regarding the Audigy2. If I'm not mistaken, the Audigy2 has ASIO drivers - but then HS2002 doesn't support ASIO... So something has to be replaced.Pedullist said:

I lifted these from the lengthy thread on SOS regarding the Audigy2:
As I understand it, only the ASIO 24/96 drivers supplied with the Audigy 2 Platinum eX model manage 24-bit/96kHz recording and playback, so non-ASIO application users are still restricted to 16-bit/48kHz operation. I only got the eX model for review, but from photographs of the two cheaper models I can say that they definitely have different circuit boards and a different selection of connectors on the backplates, although they all feature the new Audigy 2 CA0102 chip, so it seems highly unlikely that drivers written for the eX will work on the other cards. Someone will try it out soon enough though.
You can read my review of the Audigy 2 Platinum eX in the next issue of SOS, out in mid-March. As a matter of fact, this model can manage 24-bit/96kHz recording and playback. This is because the normal 16-bit/48kHz engine is completely bypassed, and your audio data goes direct to disk without passing through the dreaded SRC. Of course you lose the effects options when using these drivers, since these use up the DSP power when running at 48kHz, and would need twice as much welly to run at 96kHz.
However, (and this is the important bit), you only get this performance when running the ASIO 24- bit/96kHz drivers supplied with the Platinum eX model - you can't do this with the cheaper Audigy 2 and Audigy 2 Platinum models, which don't have the extra circuitry. 192kHz is a bit of a red herring for most purposes though.
You get a choice of two Audigy 2 ASIO drivers - ‘SB Audigy ASIO' (16-bit/48kHz only) and ‘SB Audigy ASIO 24/96' (24-bit/96kHz only). I did get a fairly good 10mS latency when running Sonar 2, but you don't of course get the 24/96 option with this - only ASIO-compatible host applications.

Those are some really purdy lookin gitars in them thar photos. I'm wondering how comfortable they are when holding them in a sitting position. I like my Fenders and Fender clones because of the shape. They are comfortable when I sit, which is how I always play them.
