Have you experienced the dreaded Asus P4PE Cold Boot Problem? What MoBo revision & BIOS version do you have?

The P4PE that I bought two weeks ago is 1.03 & 1002 respectively. I have D/Led the latest BIOS from Asus which is 1005. No case, PS & CPU yet, that should be happening next week end.

I missed this cold boot problem thingy. What's the deal on that? My P4PE has worked flawlessly since March. Especially the integrated Firewire port.

Well, using my 500th Post to answer you Chuck, if you whiz on over to Asusboards you can search for the P4PE cold boot problem. There's also a poll regarding the cold boot issue too. The search string I used was:

I'm rather hoping that the latest version of the board and the latest BIOS revision will see the end of this nasty little problem.

What wattage is your PS Chuck? I'll be getting a 350W, I'm told this will be more than adequate (famous last words...)

Clemie, don't you listen to that dachay, he's so old he's got sawdust running through his veins. And as for admitting he has clothes older that your twenty-four years, well, really.... The only mix he knows about is the concrete mix he puts his victims in (well, he does come from New Jersey )

Okay, okay, so I'm jealous cos he knows everything about Sonar and he's an award winning recording artiste. Makes me sick

Bluesmeister, yes I have the dreaded cold boot problem, happens fairly often, but only from cold. I think it is a PSU problem, I have a fully loaded puter with only a 300 watt psu which is not beefy enough. I read the thread that you linked to and feel that ambient temperature is a red herring.

All I do is press the puter power button and hold it down for a few seconds until the puter powers down and then I reboot. Sometimes it boots cleanly or pushes me to BIOS. Not a whole big deal but I feel it is definitely a PSU issue (size does matter )

I don't have the paperwork handy, but mine is at least 350W, as power supplies have been somewhat of an issue for me. I had replaced the one in my old DAW just before putting together my current one. I knew I was going to need two internal IDE drives plus a CD burner and a firewire drive, so I didn't want to skimp. Luckily power supplies are cheap, easy to replace and somewhat easy to diagnose. My BIOS is the 1.00.021. I don't know how current that is as my system waqs put together in March.
