I just copped my new vs2000 and was trying to solve a little noise problem using the expander/gate feature. Now learning for me is reading so does anybody have any info on noise gateing or can anybody pesonally tell me anything useful some some settings i can build off of (not use persay but give me a starting point that they may recommend).

P.S.- What all ya'll been up to?!

I know plenty about Noise gates. Unfortunately, I don't have time to type it out for you.

I suggest searching in the Mixing forum, you'll get plenty of stuff to read.

I would fix the noise problem and not try to gate it. Is it Hizz, Hum, noise?

Naw, not that type of noise

noise being, headphone bleed from the volume being turned up too loud (not me, customers) and when im recording myself and i gotta run to the booth and close the door and pick up my pad at the same time (which isn't that bad of a problem really, im faster now :))

thats all, nothing serious

and i meant the meaning of certain terms and all, but i got it ya'll

and you know i did a search before i posted, come on poet!

thanks though for the advice though

count-offs are what you need for that pad business.... It's a delay before recording...In the program, that is..

Thanks but...

im good now, i figured it out, i went to tweakheadz.com and did some reading.

got all i need to get about gates and compressors and them working together to improve noise to useable signal ratio.
