Ok I'm getting a little worried about my hearing, I was born 70% deaf and had to have grommets put in my ears becuase of the wax build up. I have actually noticed myself asking people to repeat themselfes latley, and that ain't cool with me.

I'm going to go to the Dr.'s and get my ears drained, but I also don't want to have to go through this again.

anyway, I have foam hearing plugs avalibal to me, but I was reading about HEROES high fidelity ear plugs, that don't cut out the "highs" have any of you guys tried these? And if so were they better than conventional ear plugs.

Thanks.

Pardon... :D

you mean Hearos. sorry to hear about your ears man.

It's my own fault, I did the damage I'm just making sure no more is going to be done.

..I also blame the drummer

Oh and the guy trying to look like steve vai in that tiny tiny room, with his amp up to 10, and the teacher wouldn't let me leave.

Bastard

But mostly my fault

The best earplugs I've used are the Elacin ER20's:

I don't use them enough when I'm playing, but do wear them when I go to loud gigs. They really make a huge difference and the sound is still good - in fact you can hear vocals more clearly. I know bar-staff that use them for this reason.

You can get really amazing expensive personalised ones too.

I have some of the Hearos Hi Fi's, which look to be about the same design as those that Codmate posted. I use them for drumming and playing electric guitar loud. They still attenuate higher frequencies, but are definitely better sounding than other foam or rubber earplugs I've tried. I'd recommend having some type of hearing protection with you at all times. I keep earplugs in my car, my laptop bag, suitcase, etc. You never know when you'll need them.

I have a pair of Hearos Hi-Fi that I have worn at concerts and band rehearsal. They change the sound a little bit, but you can work around it at rehearsal as long as you know what's going on. They're definately worth it for reducing the SPL hitting my eardrums.
