My shiny box 23 is near perfect for the price. Just wish it came with a shock mount, I know the ribbon is mounted internaly with a shockmount of some sorts, just wish it was a small amount better. Enter the Hercules Isolation mount. I guess I will give it a go next MF order I make, but if someone has already tried one or something like it, and it didn't work out for them I would like to know since it would save me $15. Or if someone has tried it with succes that would help as well. So has anyone tried one out?

I haven't tried it, but I'd be curious how well it works---particularly when used on a boom with such a heavy mic. Let us know, as I might buy one for my Nady ribbon (which has the same problem with needing much better shock damping).

Well I bought one yesterday from MF, should be here Tues. or Wed.

Got it today, not sure when I will get around to using it. Butttttttttttttt....I am not sure how well its going to work. Seems like the shock system is a little tight, not enough spring to it, but then with a heavy mic like the ribbons we are talking about, it might be just right. I don't really know, time will tell if its useful or not.

Well two months later, time has told the story on this little shock mount. I like it, well worth the $15 for the ribbons we are talking about here. Plenty of bounce to the mic now, I didn't go banging on the mic stand for testing purposes, but it seemed to pick up less noise from the stand ringing ever so slightly during vocal tracking. I track in the basement so I have concrete floors but for those of you up on first floors or above this would probably do wonders for ya. IMHO, YMWV, and I like ice cream.
