Hey everybody! I'm completely new to this recording stuff. The other day i bought a slighty used Beringher UB802 for 20 bucks cause i wanted to get into this homerecording stuff. well i dont have a good mic but even with a good mic that i borrowed from a friend the recording sounded good but really far awayish soundin like far back. Y is that? And wut kinda mic should i get? and any other stuff?

What kind of mic is it specificially... Also, what medium are you recrording to (i.e. tape, computer, etc.)?

The far awayness might be a result of the room in which you are recording... Is there excessive reverberation in this room?

The mic i was borrowing said audix on it im recording onto a computer and yeah the rooms pretty reverby i placed the mic like 2-3 inches away from the speaker. but the room is really reverby tho

When you say speaker, do you mean person talking?

no from my amp.

sounds like you need a better pre for that mic (im guessing, since Audix is on the lower end)

If you are using the stock soundcard on your computer you might want to upgrade to a better one for better results.Sound cards that come with computers arent usually that good.I have heard you can get pretty good deals on ebay for soundcard.

I guess Shure's dynamics are low end too huh? The pre could very well be a problem, Behri's aren't known for their definition that's for sure. Also make sure if the amp has reverb that it's turned down and try to get that mic right up on the speaker and crank the amp a little. I'd say the weakest link in your recording chain right now is probably the sound card.
