I downloaded a cubase demo to use with some vst instruments. Basically I just want to play live stuff to record onto another computer. I have sampletank and b4 and I want to use them. How do I patch the midi info into the instrument to get sound?

When I run cubase I get the sounds from my sblive.

help anyone!

Hey there! I have a Mac, but I am pretty sure it is the same thing. Go to your VST Instruments Panel and select the instrument you want to hear. Turn it on. Go back to the Arrange window-- on the left hand side is the output for the MIDI channels. Set this channel's output to the VST instrument. If you are playing the correct channel on your keyboard, you should be able to play your keyboard and hear the VST instrument through your speakers. The instrument's audio output will show up on the channel mixer. Hope this helps.

If you only want to play VSTi's, you should check out http://www.kvr-vst.com/. They have a section of VSTi hosts (read: so that you can play VST instruments), a lot of them are free. ;D For Mac and PC...
