Hello there,
I'm fairly new to the home recording thing, I'm a graduate of Los Angeles Recording School, but I'm a little rusty and am having trouble with this...
First off, I have a decent computer, plenty of RAM, decent (but not great) soundcard. I'm using Adobe Audition 2.0, and the mic i'm having problems with is the MXL USB.006.
I used to have Audition 1.5, and had no latency issues of any kind, but at the time I was just using a generic little computer mic to record, not a USB... I'm not exactly sure what the problem is but when I started adding tracks (from the second track on) I notice a little latency in the track, nothing really really major, but its noticeable and really makes recording any multi track stuff impossible.
I went through Auditons support forums (which were no help at all) .. I am thinking that it is not the mic itself that's causing the latency, but something to do with the playback, because when examining the tracks closer, even though I'm playing right on time with the track, the actual second track itself appears to be off. Even though I know I'm playing it right on time.
I've downloaded asio4all, as suggested by some people on the adobe forums, but it doesnt seem to be helping all that much, but i did notice a little difference, though I admit I'm not very familiar with it and I'm not sure on the settings... anyways, sorry for the ramble, after reading up on USB mics it appears it may have been a mistake to buy one, but I'm trying to work around it since i dont have the cash to go out and get another mic... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
PS. The delay looks to be very minimal, i just tested it... the initial track starts at 0:03.368 - while my 2nd track is starting at 0:03.434.. like i said earlier, i'm playing right along with the track via the playback in my headphones..
