Help with the hookups!

I am not new to music as I am to a home studio. I have components, processors, mixer, synths, pre-amps and amps.....I am doubting myself that they are connected properly. Please help this newbe to the home recording bus. Thanks!

My Confusion is the Pre-amp and the Midi controller. As well as recording Midi. I have access to the following programs for MAC-Pro Logic 7.1 and Cubase SE. It is all so confusing!

Ok,
Audio: Everything that is stereo (all your synth modules, cd player) can go on stereo inputs on your mixer, if it does not have any then use side by side mono channels each panned hard right/left. If you are running out of channels you can use each synths mono output. Monitors to the mixer monitor out (duh)

Cd recorder could be connected to the makies record out bus

Mics go into the mic preamp directly which then goes out to your mixer as one or two mono channels

Midi: I assume you use the RD300 as you master controller so plug the midi in on the keyboard to the midi out on the MOTU and vice versa for the midi out. Do the same for all your modules (you only really need to hook up the midi in on the modules unless you want to do sysex dumps or send data from the modules; then hook up both)

I use cubase so the procedure for recording midi is to add a midi channel, choose the input (your RD) choose your output (any of your synths) arm record, and record. If you want to record midi for the playback to the RD, do not select an output (select not connected) or do not monitor the midi channel since you will get a midi echo from the midi port

Hey mus1k4u. That;s a pretty good "start-up" studio! I wish I had this when I first started out. . It all seems confusing right now, but keep working at it and it'll all come together. Just stay with it!
