Ok,i hope I did it right this time.Ok, i just reinstalled the drivers. But this is the way I did it.I first pressed the uninstall which had the cmedia logo and it ,i guess uninstalled. So then i went and deleted all the folders that were asociated with CMedia, the PCI Applications folder and CMedia folders in both the C drive area and in Programs folder. Then i went and installed the drivers from the CD and then went to install teh drivers from teh updated patch you refered me to.Now I brought up teh Audio Rack and this came up when i clicked on teh mixer Icon:

Chip Version: CMI8738 6 CH with SPDIF

Configuration:

Line in and rear speaker output share the same jack.

I was wondering , was I supposed to just install from the downloaded patch or install from CD first and then the patch.i dont where the Audio rack patch to.I keep gettting an error.Earlier when i went to click on the mixer icon i got a blank screen and then bloby color. The it diappeared.

Ok,now when i go to the audio rack it seems to read out on this:

Well the jpg's didnt exactly come out right but you might be able to bring it up on your computer. But I was able to get something up that mentioned the SPDIF hook ups.And when i brought up audio rack it mentioned : "Cannot execute all the componants of Audio Rack."

But I was able to use most.

You still have the old shortcut to Audiorack but you deleted the files with the folders. You don't need Audiorack, just the mixer.
The s/pdif options are greyed out until you set the speaker mode to 2 speakers (just the "front" analog outs.

I don't recognise the setting with the midi option - is that n-track?

Oh wait. No thats the Audiorack interface. It was pulled up from PCI Aplications folder. The other pics there are the options that came up after clicking on the hammer icons.

If you click on the mixer Icon on the taskbar you just get the mixing controls. Click on record. Do you see an s/pdif button on the right hand end? It doesn't have a fader. When the s/pdif button is pressed, that is what will record in your sequencer if the c-media device is selected as its track record input.
As in this...

OK, I found that exactly what is there when i clicked the record button. Is that the one?I saw on a freinds computer and he 's got the Sound Blaster Live and in the mixer or record options on hte sound card through N Track there was the SPDIF option. On mine, it doesnt show up.But on the Audio Rack interface it shows up when i pressed record like you mentioned.

Ok, i got something else. This is when I brought up the Audio Enviourment interface:

You're obsessing with the Audio Rack! I never installed this, it's only a Media Player/ Recorder and the settings it gives are only the mixer settings (Advanced) in a different format. Are you saying Audio Rack is all you can launch from the taskbar mixer? It's actually an extra application and not essential.
I don't record using the C-media I have as it's not in my studio pc, but I think I know someone who does. I'll try and see if he can help.

As I said earlier, you will NOT see the Cobra s/pdif as a record input in N-track. The Cobra/C-media is an AC97 audio chip and it only provides one record option to applications like N-track. That record option will be the one with the blue button in the C-media Record Mixer - not Audio Rack. You will notice that you can only select one of the record buttons in the mixer.

Ok,so far when i just restarted my computer I have the misxer icon down at the bottom but when i click on it it doesnt even close or pop up.In the start I also get "an Active X Run time error".I do not know what that means.Well i might just reinstall my driver again. This aint comin up yet.Sorry for taking so much of your time here Jim,its just I want to know how to get this SPDIF thing going im ready to email Cmedia about it.But hey, you are of great help here. brb.

Well Jim, I am stumped. To this day I am still stumped.Sorry, really apreciate the help though.I had a problem with the sound card again, apparently the sound card was not being detected by the computer so it stoped showing up.So i switched over to the mother boards built in sound card, NVidia media something, and I did all that you told me to and viola, I got the scroll downs that you said I would see.BUT, the built in sound card doesnt have any SPDIF or and RCA looking inputs or outs. But it says that it has it.But when I went to switch card functions the C Media card didnt have it.Frustrating.
