Help with my studio/garage

OK, so I am thinking of converting my garage into my studio. For the longest time it had been my workshop/garage so that is why there is OSB on the walls and florecent lights. As you can see by the pics, this has become my recording/practice area. I would like to separate the desk from the instrument area. I ave been thinkinf puting a wall to separate the 2 with a window over the desk looking into the other area.

So my questions are:

Does anyone have any advice on the instrument area itself? Should there be some sort of treatment in there?

What should I do on the control side? There is a garage door approximately 10' behind the desk that I would still like to keep there in order to get my bike in and out. Any ideas on treatment?

The dimensions of the instrument room are roughly 16' wideX 14' deep and the control roo would be roughly 16' wideX 11' deep.

Any and all advice would be appreciated. Especially yo Ethan!

Are you talking about soundproofing the two areas?

Soundproofing is one thing, especially for the instrument area. But I guess I am more concerned about the control room side for teatment. Especially with a garage door there.

you might consider switching the control room and live room so the live room is closer to the door - this way its easy to load/inload equipment and your bike you could use the control room for vox isolation from the rest of the band as well etc... might even be able to make the CR a bit smaller.

pretty much just need to add a single wall on 15 degrees (with slider door) with some CR treatment front and back.

That's a good idea and I have thought about that. The only problem was having the live room close to the garage door as far as soundproofing. I still might consider it though. Maybe some movebale panels in front of the O/H door?

on the garage door you could replace it with a wall and add a french door to allow access for equipment and bike... I used to ride my bike (HD custom ST)into the basement at our cabin with a 3' door so a french door should be plenty. much more isolation and insulation...

I do like that idea. Angle walls are better? Tis is what I was thinking:

the angled wall helps reduce or eliminate "flutter echos" - a reverb like series of small echos, and in the control room help to guide the sound waves to create a "reflection free zone" (RFZ). by adding some bass absorbers low in the front and all along the back wall, an overhead cloud, and maybe a couple of side absorbers, you can keep the rooms lively, more even frequency response, and accurate positioning in the mix.

I got ya... I did some measuring tonight (a little difficult around all the equipment) and I came up with 25' deep X 15'3" wide. Now, if I make the studio 13' deep and then the control room 12', would that give me a pretty good ratio? I would have liked to add maybe a couple 4'X6' vocal/amp booths along the control room wall but that would make the control room around 12'X11'.

I am trying to read up on some ideal situations as far as the ratios of room dimensions but it's got me all confused. Damn, I wish I would have paid more attention to math!!

Anyways, I am just trying to come up with the best solution for the area I have.
