help with autotune

Allright all of you software wizards out there ! Can anyone help me "unlock" the mysteries of autotune ? You know, help me "crack" the case, so to speak. I'm pretty strapped and I could use a permanent copy. E-mail me if you have the secrets to the universe and are willing to share. I am your willing apprentice. You know this is for educational purposes only, right ?

You're new here, aren't you? You usually can't just "crack" a program. If you can get a serial number for it, that would do it, but it depends on whether the software lets you. I wouldn't encourage it anyway..

Yeah, but don't you think with all of the experience and knowledge floating around that somebody hasn't figured it out? The only reason I ask is because another member has a post claiming that he has broken through autotune.
And since we're on the subject, has anyone out there tried the oberheim version called ob-tune ?
Yeah I'm new to this forum, but I love music, and I love recording. The information I've found here has been incredible.

You need to NOT ask for illegal copies of software. Especially in a forum where some of the very people you are hoping to steal from hang out.

silver, im guessing you have a demo of the program where did you get it? im not going to crack it or help you crack it, but i do want to try it out....

I find it incredible that people think that they can "hide" on the internet when posting on a BBS. Tracking a post back to it's source is not very time consuming, and only requires a couple phone calls.

silverhammer, you should hope that nobody from Antares insists to find out who you are when you are requesting to break the copyright laws that protect their application.

There are plenty of "warez" sites that can help you. Proceed with those at your own risk!

Hey silverhammer, apology accepted. Many here just feel that it is uncouth to post about 'warez' on an otherwise fine BBS! I suppose we like to keep that kind of talk away from here so as not to attract a bunch of warez seekers from coming on and making this site look like a bunch of pirates! monty wants an eyepatch though so he can be a pirate. God knows, he doesn't use any recording software.....:D

I would suspect that many on here have used, errrrrrrrr, "borrowed" software at one time or another....;) We just like to keep it, ummmmmmmmm, PRIVATE!

Welcome to homerecording.com! You will learn lots here, and there are many very cool people that post here, and also a good share of professional engineers that can post some great stuff that will help you learn a lot about recording.

Prism, I just noticed that you are from Spokane. Have you checked out Five Foot Thick, and/or are you into them? Their CD is in regular rotation during shows at the club I work at and we are dying to get them down here to play! What a great band!!!

Really?? I didn't know that Five Foot Thick was so popular. I get their newsletter thingy in my email all the time, and I know the engineer as well. (that's how I got hooked up with them, sorta)
But I haven't heard any of their music or anything...kind of shameful. I'm just not easily impressed, and I have picky taste, that's all... I should check 'em out.

I have the rackmount version of the Antares ATR-1a. Your not missing too much..... I mean it's great, and when needed, it works like a charm... But for my own album, I find myself not using it, and striving to be a better singer and tune my instruments good before tracking....rendering it useless for me lately, although, when I have a client who sings a bit out of tune, it comes in handy, but it won't fix really bad stuff, and you will hear the "steps" as it attempts to pull your voice around........ It is valuable.... So many people waste there money on sonic maximizers, and 35 different reverb modules, and other crap like that when this is much more essential...... But try and get by without it for now, if your strapped, just wait and save up and buy the rack version, ($799US).. roughly (I hate DAW and plug-in versions of good rackmount modules)......... Just think, what did everyone do before this technology was available.........They got by didn't they?......

I guess I need to learn to sing better

Thanks guys, My software is 35 bucks and my system is a k6-4oo, not very high tech but its what i have, Any other suggestions ? My finances don't allow much for my hobby . Has anyone actually tried the oberheim OB-Tune software ? That is actually iin a price range that might be affordable.
 
hey, not sure about the software question, but what are you recording with? i'am always curious to see peoples set ups...

I have OB tune...

It works, but I hate the idea of using it. Liek Vox, I have been trying to work on my singing, and been happy with the results I'm getting.

I wouldn't but the OB tune. Since you're cash stapped, you'd be better off learning to sing in tune better.
