Help with an 788

Putting together a Pwr Supply for a 788 and need to know the pinout for the mainboard jack. Shield = Ground, Pins 3-4 = Ground. Are pins 1-2-5-6 all hot? (12VAC). Came without the P-788 and have a few nice supplies that can be used. Thanks in advance----Jim p.s. jack is the PS2 jack
 
788 Solved

Couldn't get anyone to respond so I dig in and figured it out! Tascam info very vague--turns out the supply is 24vac split into two 12vac lines. If phased corectly two separate 12vac supplies can be used. (works like a charm). Pin out-----pins 1-2 12vac---pins 5-6 12vac across 1-2 & 5-6 reads 24vac. Pins 3-4 and shield are common and should read 12vac to 1-2 & 5-6. So this was the solution I used--up and running----------Jim
 
I know I'm resurrecting an old post but I just got 788 that a guy purchased in 03. The PO said he lost the power supply in storage and I'm pretty good with engineering electronic circuits. Could you elaborate on what you used and your schematic in building your power supply. I can't feasibly seem to find one anywhere out here for sale in cyberland. That's puzzling as I read a lot of good things about the 788. Even TASCAM is extremely cryptic about a power supply for this unit.
 
Well seeing as I got several reads but not even a bite, I was finally able to get Tascam to Fedex me one for $60.00. Everything is beautiful now! The 788 is a great machine for less than major projects. Quick and intuitive if you've ever used a Portastudio over the years. :)
 
smashed power supply

my power supply got smashed and now the pins are all jacked up. they go back into the holes, but the plastic thing in the middle is kind of gone and the shielding around the outside is bent too. i turn it on, and it has the normal start up, then it says "scanning drives", i get a zero with five dots. and then it says "please wait" and then nothing happens. i'm running 2.02. i take out the hard drive and it does exactly the same thing. i think it's a power supply issue but i think the problem is just on the actual connector. any idea on how to fix that connector? is that a standard connector that i could cut and resolder? for the guy who made a new one from scratch, could you help me come up with a solution?
 
Tascam 788 Power supply

Well thanks to lightleader for solving this....will try it since here in Guatemala is close to impossible to find this power supply and likely will cost over $100 to bring from the states
