Hey all,

1st off I have the very original music David posted so it doesn't have all the cool changes and Dog/Gorty's parts either. I wont list a bunch of excuses before I post the track but I will say this is my least favorite vocal performance of mine thus far on the boards and hopefully David can work some Magic with the edit <wink>

Also, I wanted to put some harmonies in, some "oohs" and "ahhs", and other things but didn't have time and I know everyone was waiting on the basic lead vocals, so its just them alone.

I am mailing you the dry vocals David to your email address. This is just my version with a bit of verb on my vocals (maybe too much verb but David will fix all of that).

Have at it!

Gospel Cincy

Sweet vocals cincy!!..A very nice job you have done here!!... :) :) :)

Wow Cincy!! That is great....moved my soul. I can't wait to hear it with Dog's emotional ryhthm and Gorty's sweetsounding licks. :)

Thanks all, I really appreciate the positive feedback :)

David, you have already done a great job with the version I just listened to. It was harder to notice all of my flaws in your version, I like that hehe ;)

You did an outstanding job. You have an amazing gift of interpretation, you "own" each song. It doesnt sound dorky at all, it sounds like a song. It could be about spark plugs or tennis shoes, it just works

Sometime today I will post a midi version of where the choir stuff should be and the lyrics. This should be VERY interesting. :D

Sorry I have been a lil slow on this, work got in the way of my free time

This is sounding pretty darn good Our Brother

I will try to have some choir info later.

OK here is what the choir part will be like:

Choir Practice

Here are the rules:

A. It comes after the tune modulates to B major, about 3.5 minutes in

B. Sing when Cincy does, we are BACKING him as a choir.

C. The middle section where Cincy doesnt sing, those are "AAAAAHHHS." No words in that lil middle interlude, just AAAAHS.

D. If you know how to harmonize, go ahead.

E. It has to sound like a LOT of people.

F. THE END:

Cincy sings "Eventually" as his last word. Right after that, the choir sings:

Forever, and ever, forever, and ever, forever, and ever, forever, A - MEN. The "Men part takes 8 beats. The "A" part is a quarter note pickup. Just do what the synth does and t will be fine.

G. The first person to turn anything in, we go with that person kinda sorta, we just keep adding voices util its together. Male AND female are needed, or castrati

WORDS:

JE-SUS! We praise his Name
He is god are only father
Forever he will reign
Follow JE_SUS! F ollow me
I will lead you to salvation and you’ll
Live…………………………….eternally

So you sing the choruse once, do 8 measures of AAAAHHS, do the chorus again then right away do forever and ever forever and ever forever and ever forever A MENNNNNNNNNNNN

If this is too complicated let me know. I'm a classical dork, we just read music. :o

Nice work everyone......It is sounding pretty sweet!!.... :)

Nice mix Dave!!.... :)

This is pretty good gospel gumbo folks.
The singing is great - it that cincy-kid?
The structure is very well placed in the genre.
2 slightly critical comments though from someone totally uninvolved-
1. The intro keys are a little too twee for me - they actually sound as I'd expect to hear on a number such as this but doesn't match my awareness of the taste & skills of almost all performers - satire seemed to hover.
2. On several occasions the pronounciation of jesus came across closer to the more common & I mean common use of the word. May need a different syllables or vowel stress.
Keep up the ace work.
I can't wait for the unholy choir - heavenly music from our earthly brethren.

Thanks for listening Ray

Wow!!! That's an INCREDIBLE observation!! Really, its 110% accurate! Indeed, the keyboards were meant to sound like something you would hear on this genre. My cup of tea? Not at all :D I didnt even know my synth had these sounds on it :D There is a certain amount of musical satire involved: it's not meant as disrespect for the genre, more of a stereotypical approach to how these things actually go.

When I play christian gigs as a backup player, this is how they are arranged. It is the first time I have ever used a modulation like this to extend a tune. The Keys are all midi so I can change sounds with a button-push, I may break down and use something less, ummm, errr, gay :D

OK, the choir is rolling, courstesy of the amazing Gerry-ido57 who did a bangup job.

ido57 choir.

Its pretty simple: do what Gerry did :D I havent had tine to line it up 100% but it doesnt really matter, the choir will be under the cincy kid until the end. At the very end, Gerry nails the rhythm, its EXACTLY how it is supposed to go.

Who's next? Well? Huh? Are YOU next? I know yez wanna be! Its simple, just do what he did. We need boys AND girls, we dont want it coming off as the gay mens choir :D

I put the whole thing up to make it easy. It starts 3 minutes in or so, the tune is in the background a bit so you can hear choir, it should make sense.

Yeah it needs some lining up and some levelling but I'm confident the edit king will perform his magic! :o .

My tracks were all out of alignment - ADAT to computer is pretty messy. Eventually I have to get something with more tracks that can be exported as syncronized wav's - Rami and Llarion have some cool DAWs I've been looking at. If only I had the money :p Someday..... :D

But we need lots more voices in our choir..... Maybe this weekend?.....

I've been meaning to give some kudos to the players so far:

Gorty - nice sweet lead riffs, very fitting for the groove. Is that your Strat or Gibson or Ibanez (did I mention I'm jealous? ;) )

Dogman - your tones always impress - you dial in just the right sounds for tunes. Your tight rhythm really lifts this up into a strong rocking feel.

Cincy Kid - amazing voice man, your tone, pitch and vibrato is great. I am learning just from listening to your material...Your vocals have really pulled this together.

DavidK - great arranging/editting/keys and drums are nice and solid. Hoping you keep as much of that great violin as possible :D it fits very well in this type of tune...... :D

Coming together nicely.....

:) :D :) :D

I'll add something, just wasn't sure exactly what. I'll try and post it tomorrow, and just let David fix it up.... :D

Ido, thanks for the props man...and nice job on the vox...hopefully I can get the timing right, but if not...oh well.

Theres gonna be a whole symphony on this sucka hopefully  . Certainly will have real horns, Cindy ( songwriter) is a pro Symphony French Hornist  : A combination of real strings, horns and samples and we will have a pretty good symphonic setup.

Cool, you will probably be in the Bass section with me. You are like Pavarotti compared to me. :D This is going to be my DEBUT as a singer, I have never, ever, never ever sang. Well, maybe in my drinking days :D
and some levelling

Levels are intentionally off right now so people only hear choir. I will put a healthy reverb on everybody.

Horns - very cool ! Go Cindy !

My wife should be able to track this weekend.......I hope, PM me the lyrics if you can or are they in the thread? Shame on me for posting and not reading everything. And do you want this sent back to you thru email or posted on my site, and you want 320kbs MP3's right? Not wav. files? She is great at harmony so expect that...unless you don't want that?

Thanks.

Shame on me for posting and not reading everything.

How dare you  :D :D I will pm them shortly, they are in the thread SOMEWHERE but I certainly dont want to find them :D

Great!! We definitely need harmony and femal harmony would be the ultimate. She has a terrific voice, I am really looking forward to it.

David,
Totally off topic what is the effect of playing the minor of a chord under the chord eg playing B & slighly under in terms of levels a Bm?

Not sure I follow you. I think you may be talking about inversions? Inversions have different root notes in the bass. In B minor, first inversion would have a D as the root, second inversion F # etc. Is that what you are asking?

I don't know.
Sorry to trouble you with this but it's something I've wondered about. Being untutored in musical theorey & constantly struggling for arrangement ideas I have a few silly whacky notions such as...
If I play the chord A & someone else plays Am simultaneoulsy but a little more quietly is there any "musical" formal result?
& to show you how really dumb I can be I've often wondered if each section of an orchestra played a sep note from a chord, say F#m, would the result be recognizable as a chord & acceptable musical. I been listening to Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire almost weekly since 1976 so my idea of musically normal isn't quite where it ought to be.
