Dave,

I don't think the link worked that I sent in the email, hopefully this will get you a listen of some clean ringing chords and a single note guitar line. If you are interested, these clean chords could be layered underneath some rhythm guitar to add texture and a little bit of flavour maybe!

Song for DavidK

Let me know if you want any wav files sent!

Gort...that is pretty cool. Nice tone.

I was working on a basic rhythm.....is this something you want, or too messed up? Song

Hey Dogman,

I'm sorry I missed this posting of yours, I like the flange effect on the guitar (is it flanger/Wah).....Pretty funky, I like this!!....A combination of clean and dirty in regards to the guitar tones could be quite tasty here!

Cool Dogman! :)

Thanks Gort...It's an auto-wah. The flange effect comes from it being 2 tracks. It's kind of fun to play.... :D

Heh, I missed it too Dog, sorry :o

You do have some cool effects going on there. Neat stuff...

David,

The chords are pretty ok to figure out since you told the progression and the key. But the only thing is without the lyrics, it's kind of dumb playing. And I get bored of playing the same 3 chords for 3-4 measure only to switch to another and to repeat.

What I'm saying is that I think this is going to be an upbeat country tune. But I would like to hear the lyrics first, so we can know where to do special note hits and stuff and where to add other new different stuff like alternate version of chords.

I'm not any special innovative player but I'd have an easy time trying if I knew where the song repeats and where the lyrics say what and where to play just plain 'coz the lyrics are busy in the section.

I like that piano and the bass playing especially when there's those little chord transitions that start just past the 1st count of the measure. :)

I don't know what I'll contribute but I ended up having a text file with just the chords and played around a bit. I'll be trying to add guitar and stuff but I think between Gorty and Dogman we already have some good offerings.

I'll still have fun trying. Anyhoo, lyrics lyrics lyrics will probably add much to this effort. And I do know you're not doing the vox so I guess I'm just letting it be known that I've been palying around. :)

Bubba,

if you mean you need the lyrics sent to you, I will do that in 5 minutes, and to anyone else that requests them. I dont want to print them here as I did not write them and want to respect my friend yada yada.

If you mean the vox should be recorded first, well I dont have anything recorded so I will take what I can get. Maybe I am WAY underestimating this, to me it's as utilitarian as music can get. I will PM you the lyrics regardless.

This will turn out great in the end DavidK, it's just that there is so much open space at the moment. I think once the rhythm as in some basic chords and some underlying guitar and the bass is layed down the vocals will need to be added so that the guitars can then drop in and out between the singing to add some little licks and bends etc.

At this stage it is hard too lay any lead guitar down with out knowing exactly how and where the vocals will come in and out. When the vocals have been tracked the guitars have definitive boundaries to work in (us guitarists need our boundaries.. :D ) thus allowing little fills and licks to compliment the vocals in between the vocal phrases.

The drums is another issue that could change a few things, so we need the drumming dudes to lay some drum tracks as the guitars will also need to follow these to a degree when it comes to holding back during drum fills etc.

The bass will also need to follow the drums, whether it to be a walking bass line or straight shooting along with the snare and kick.

I think that what you want Dave is for people to just lay tracks and you can edit edit edit...........This can work, but I think it is easier for people to have a progression of the work at hand!

I feel the key will be to get the drums and vocals happening, these will be the back bone for the buiding blocks.

I will cut some little licks and some different bits and pieces over the next day or so and post to you.

Did the link work in the email I sent you David???

Gorty :)

PS....It will take shape slowly but surely Dave. :)

I will contribute some vocals, but I am waiting on True to lay down the lead first ;)

TRUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE :D :D

I think she is doing it as we speak!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

Okay-finally got some time to put something together with the rhythm track. I would also like to add some harmonised Leads in a few places but I thought a bit of the 5 string might help it out as well. Its a little sloppy but I think its got a nice feel, what do you think? The song is The Fellars~

Yes. I sent an email back, did you get it?

Yup. Its a catch 22 because I have nothing! As soon as I have something we can figure it out. Brandrum hasnt been around, I would put in a synth Drum but I SUCK at it. I agree, gets some drums and bass and we can go.

OK Kids,

I need to get this going. Any ideas? Do I need to make a better midi file? The one posted was the one sent to me. This tune is REAL simple. Not much I can do until I get some basic tracks down.

I will mess with it and post a better mp3 to work with.

Hey, can you repost the original mp3? I like some of the ideas for bass on the new version, but I can't play to it because it's two bass players steppin' on each other. Seriously, I've been at it an hour now, this is getting embarassing :o

This song is trickier than it seems at first blush, since the changes, turnarounds, staccato vs. sustained notes seemingly come at random. Tough for me without a live band or a chart :(

Can people just post their track? That's what I'm gonna do.

:(

It took me a few hours to get the flow of this tune, but I don't think there is any set pattern that I could follow....It seems very random!!!

I recorded a section at a time, then memorized and learnt the next couple of phrases etc and then bounced all my combined tracks onto one pair of stereo tracks. :o :D

I have heard this song, my friend sang it for me. I am just not presenting it right. :o

Its REAl simple and REAL predictable. Of course I record symphonies by myself so perhaps I underestimated the simplicity. :D

You're right Dave, it is simple, it is just a little random here and there!... :)

I will post you my stereo tracks of the guitar work I have so far and will drop some more tracks tonite!..............Do you want all effects removed, I have some reverb on the tracks??
