but if i looking at it they are all the USb version not the USB 2.0? is that something you can tell?

The 2.0 version has a giant USB 2.0 Sticker in blue on the front...

Also the Presonus FireStudio Project has 8 preamps (I think its only firewire) and the Alesis Multimix 16 USB 2.0 has 8 preamps...

I think the Zoom R16 only has 8 inputs (not 16 like the name implies)- maybe they are stereo? or maybe you can record 8 tracks, then over dub another 8... (probably the latter)

oh and please

8 at once should be enough thats enough for the drums indeed you can than overdub it
I havent see the alesis 2.0 on ebay second hand i kind of fell in love with the zoom because i dont need to buy a new pc with that. Plus i can mix it on the zoom record on the zoom an insert it into cubase or another daw afterwards which does give the freedom to record in the rehearsal room but still very prof.

Sounds like fun right :-)
Still im gonna check your links as i eant to gather as much info as possible" kmowlegde is power right..... Phantom power hahaha

It looks to me like 8 inputs. The remaining 4 channels being stereo returns maybe? I have a feeling that you are limited to 8 tracks within the unit without using a computer to mix more tracks together. I could be wrong tho.

I asked the guy from ebay how old his zoom is and if there is visible damage if everything is ok i am gonna place a bit

I am as excited as a boy in a toy store
As a mature man in a **** shop :-)

Ill keep you posted, i hope i get it and if so i finally can make that nr 1 hit mooeeewhaha

right now i'm the higest bidder..so 2 days and i know it. ..woooo!

One more stupid question how can i tell if its the usb or usb 2.0 version?
Its not clear on ebay at all

Sorry to invade but i just wanted to clarify: usb and usb 2.0 are basically the same. Sure usb 3.0 is out but its still hardly in use.

USB and USB 2.0 are NOT basically the same - USB 2.0 has much more bandwidth - and specifically on the model names in Alesis Multimix mixers the difference between "USB" and "USB 2.0" is that the mixer either has 2 channels via USB or 8 or 16 channels via USB 2.0 which is a huge difference.

So, knowing the differences between port speeds is important to understand. The main difference between the 2.0 and the 1.0 or 1.1 is that the 2.0 USB ports are much faster. It’s pretty much as simple as that. USB 2.0 averages a data rate of 480 Mbps (megabits per second) while USB 1.1 only hits 12 Mbps. That’s about 40 times as fast! Wow! USB and USB 2.0 are absolutely 'NOT' the same. Hardware has not yet been developed to use 3.0 as of yet. Glad you invaded. You would have had the wrong idea.

:D

LOL at Jimmy typing the same post as me at the same time!

LOL. I still need to spread some rep.........Yer next man! As soon as I spread......You were definitely more detailed tho. I wasted time by not thinking the answer through. :)

lol but no everybody knows that USB and USB2.0 are not the same :-)

"Yesterday some !@#%$!@#$!@#% placed a higher bid 5 seconds before the ending..so i couldn't bid anymore....
So...i ordered a new Zoom R16.... :-)

i so far have watched hours of cubase vids on youtube, read the manual of the zoom...
so now it's just waiting to have it in the mail.

i can get rid of my boss mirco Br now :-)
im really curious/excited how this works with a DAW. as I have never used it in this setup before.
next step would be some cheap ass studio speakers
and ofcourse mics
although mics are very imporant, since i'm new to this. i just want to learn. so i'll buy the most cheap mics i can effort. pobalby singing mics of a buck each :-)
