Ok, so I've never recorded my drums at home in my life. But, I hafta record them now quickly so that I can get a good grade on a project for school...(my group is doing a rap) but the only problem is, is that I'm short on cash and I don't have any decent mics (pc mic) or programs, so my question is:
what programs can I use (which are free) to record my drums (and make them sound decent) but I can also add in bass/keyboard/guitar with them from the computer...(I don't have either of those 3 instruments, but I was hoping that theres some program on the net which I can use to create some sweet rhythyms...)...Thanks all...

Audacity

There's your recording program, at least.

Not to be mean or anything, but I seriously doubt that you'll eveb get close to a decent drum recording with a PC mic and your built in sound card. (I'm assuming that is all that you have. Correct me if I'm wrong.) IMO, you'd be better off just downloading some free drum loops, (if there is such a thing, I've never looked) especially since you're doing a rap.

As for the virtual instruments, all the programs that I know of that can support these types of things are not free, however some can be quite affordable.

Instruments

You can find the VST instruments here. These require you to know about MIDI, so that you can make the instruments play what you want them to. The virtual instruments may be too much to do just for a school project, especially on short notice. When is it due, just out of curiousity?

^^^I'm not sure when its due (truthfully) but its not a long time...less than a month--I know that much...
I would prefer something to be free, rather than affordable...and I dont know much about MIDI...and I cant just get loops cuz it has to be original...but thanks tho...anyone else??
