I downloaded the demo version of n-track and I just want to be able to mixdown from my MR-8. Can someone tell me how this is done? I apologze if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the info I need.

I would think that you should be able to connect it to a computer via USB and export each track as a wave file.
You would then import those wave files (file/import/wave) into n-Track as separate tracks to mix and process at will.

Ken is right. What I do is use Fostex's free Wavmanager program (available on their site) and a card reader. I've never done it, but I assume the same is possible using a usb cable. I just find it easier to carry a card around rather than the mr8, as I track in one room, and mix in another. I believe you need WavManager to export individual mono tracks from the mr8.

WavManager imports the individual tracks to my computer, and then in n-Tracks, use the "import wav file" to get them into a song. Works very well, and by using wavmanager, your tracks always line up perfectly. Then if you want, you can mix down those tracks to a mono 16 bit wav (just be sure to name it tr01.wav) and import it back to the mr8 in order to record more tracks. Repeat as needed, bake until golden brown.

I agree with Ken and Nate

Yep , the MR8 works great with n-track. Use the Wavemanager free program you can download from the Fostex site. I do use the USB connection directly into my computer and it works fine. You can use a cardreader as well--they both work, but maybe it is just my imagination..it seems that my tracks are a little clearer and crisper using the direct USB connection.

mr8

you only need a card reader if you use windows 98 or 98se, otherwise usb works.

ive been doingg this also, its great not dealing with latency and all, just recod and transfer file, mixdown to mono 16 bit 144 and import back to mr8 and add more tracks, repeat as necessary
