This song from the '80s has an effect during the verses that I can't seem to nail, although it doesn't sound too complex.
I've tried with a slap-back delay and a bit of verb on a bus, but with no luck.

Any ideas?

The Greg Kihn Band - The Breakup Song (Sorry I can't yet post urls)

Thanks

Sounds like a long plate with a big predelay setting. You can hear a distinct gap between the main vocal track and when the reverb wash kicks in.

Seeing as how it was the early 80's, this was probably an AMS unit or a Lexicon 224. I think those ended up on more than half of every record made at the time (the other half had Eventides!)

Thanks, David. I'll explore...
