See there's you're problem squirt...you're using the internet to obtain and/or maintain friendships. The net is for three things:
research
retail and
porn.

Danmed mouth-breathers.
I've never used the internet for research or retail.

i dont use the internet for friendship or as a form of personal communication because it just doesnt work. you're right, the internet is for research and retail, but assholes like you make it difficult to obtain any research because they make a peaceful forum into a virtual biker bar. every red chiclet you have is like getting a beer bottle broken over your head because you are an asshole.

yes im a mouth breather- so you must be talking out of your ass. lets here some recordings thebigdickhead.

Tragik, are you 16? is it just me, or does these red chicklets idiots pick on under-18 people only? like you and me....

Just don't let a butt-head calling you a moron disturb you. Everyone's a tough guy behind the anonymity of the internet.

I bet TheGiantHead is a 98-pound social retard who in real life is too afraid to speak to anyone, much less girls, stutters, and still has to apply clearasil thrice daily. I see these guys everyday.

If you were to meet him face to face he would NEVER have the stones to say half the things he does here.

So don't let the occasional mild taunting from him get you down. If soneone you respect calls you a moron, pay heed. But not him.

I don't think there is a health law related to this. If that were the case, every single club I have played in for the past ten years is breaking this so called law. Also, my studio is too since I use the same vocal mics on many different musicians. And any studio for that matter. Do think that Abbey Road puts a brand new mic up everytime someone new enters the live room?

I think it is just another ploy from GC to make money. Surprise surprise...

i really dont know. im just an employee and thats part of our return policies. i'll try to see if i can find the official statement we recieved from the health department, but that was two years ago.

I would be very interested...
Until I see something official, though, I (once again, no disrespect intended) I completely and totally disbelieve anyone that tells me that their store doesn't accept returns of mics 'due to health department policy' (I do believe that some stores simply will not take mic returns--that is their own policy, though, and I do not patronize those establishments FOR ANY GEAR--EVER. I don't think it's a very sensible policy...). Not only because of my knowledge of infectious diseases, (MOST infectious agents die shortly after being exposed to the external environment. Those that live will be taken care of by a helathy immune system. Those of us with compromised immune systems need to take GREAT care--infectious diseases are ALL AROUND US) but also because any store I've ever bought a mic from HAS given me (in writing) a few days to 'check it out' in my own space, with my own gear, once I pushed them and told them I will take all my business elsewhere. And I buy a LOT of gear. Most of the stores in my neck of the woods know this.

im a moron- and your the bigdickhead. i believe ive encountered your asinine comments in the past and i already labeled you as a dickhead, lets not get into this, i dont like you, so back off and go easy with the name calling because it shows your lack of social maturity.

I'm assuming that this was not directed toward me when I say this, but...
Don't let him/her get to you. He/she was wrong in provoking you. One of the more effective ways of dealing with individuals who troll for flame wars is to ignore them. They generally leave the thread after they realize they're not getting anywhere.
Remember I said my day job is in healthcare...I actually work as a licensed psychotherapist in the state of New York, in a hospital. I deal with individuals that can be difficult, and are experiencing difficulties. I can tell you that, from a behavioral point of view, this will usually work. Probably the best way of keeping this community a place where people share research, etc, in the most respectful and effective manner possible. Flaming is part of the reason I decided not to participate in this forum a while back. I thought I'd check it out again. I hope that this 'altercation' is the anomaly. I've found this board to be pretty informative, but absolutely cannot abide by those individuals that use the anonymity of the web to disrespect others. It's really lame.

Thanks again.

That's one of the points that I made when I had this discussion in the other forum, as well as when I had the discussion with one of the ID docs that I work with.

I agree completely.

BTW--GC is one of the places that HAS given me a written agreement that I had seven days to return my mic, if it didn't work out...you just gotta be an assertive consumer. I can be VERY assertive...

you make a very good point on the Abbey Road analogy....many years of people not breaking out with lip sores or fungus-breath. hehe

Seriously tho..Is there a correct way (or product) to clean this delicate instrument, aka microphone?? I wonder what the pro's do?

My brother sneezed into a Nueman once...about blew the headphones off the ME he said!! pissed him off big time...the ME that is.

Marriedtorocker--
Sorry dude...didn't mean to kill your thread...

For your situation (as long as you've got a number of music stores to choose from--maybe you don't, although you CAN buy stuff over the web, so that right there negates any monopoly that a 'brick and mortar' store in your area might have), I would, do research--lot's of it, then I would either go to the store and audition mics, with your wife, OR buy a mic or two (don't forget to be an assertive consumer!!), test it out on YOUR system, and pick the best one FOR YOU.

I will tell you that my 'go to' mic for a (speaking in general terms--EVERY voice is different) 'high soprano' vox, is my AKG c4000 (~$499 when I bought it). It tends to take away some of the 'treble'. However, for all I know, your wifes vox is a 'dark' 'high soprano'.

Hope it helps...
Tom
