When I record a second track I can hear the playback through my headphones but not what I'm recording. What am I doing wrong?
Using GT2 and new to this. Thanks for the help.

Either full duplex mode is not enabled (or not possible) on your soundcard, or you don't have the Line In enabled as a "playback" device in the WIndows mixer utility.

please describe how

I'm having the same problem as Rockr56. We're both using guitartracks2.0, and we're both pretty sure we have full duplex mode enabled, because we can listen to N tracks at a time...it's just that we can't hear the guitar while we are playing.

Could you please describe exactly how to enable Line In as a "playback" device in the windows mixer utility? I'm thinking that that is the problem. I'm using windows 2000 pro. Thanks a bunch!!!

I don't know what sound card your using, but if it's a SB try this.

Right click your speaker icon in your tray.
Click on "Open Volume Controls".

The "PLay Controls" control box appears.
Click "Options", then "Properties".

Go to the "Adjust Volume For" and click the "Recording" radio button. Then "OK".

Another "Play Controls" box appears, except this one is called,
"Record Controls".

Look and see if the box is checked on the "What You Hear". If it is, that's your problem. Uncheck the box.

You'll want the "LIne In" box checked. Or what ever box your using to feed your soundcard.

When the "What You Hear" box is checked it'll record everything that goes through the soundcard, your other tracks, the metronome, etc.

While your threre, check your panning, (balance) controls. Center them if they are not already.

Hope that helps.

Not quite sure how that means you have full duplex enabled. Full duplex means you can playback and record at the same time. It has nothing to do with the number of tracks you can playback.

Double click on the speaker icon in your system tray. Make sure Line In is one of the choices showing and make sure it is not muted. You can also try raising the volume level as well to see if that helps.

If Line In is not showing, go to Options > Properties and click the checkbox next to Line In.

(BTW, I assume you are able to actually record the second track, but just can't hear it while recording. Is that correct?)

You could also try enabling Input Monitoring, but that may bring a host of other problems with it.

thanks both of you!

Will try it out when I get home from work.
