I recently got a Korg MS2000B synth and a Behringer Eurorack UB1202 mixer and I'm setting up a small recording studio in my room. I have the E-mu 0404 soundcard in my computer and I'm trying to configure cubasis VST and patchmix dsp to do what I want. My current setup is like so:

Synth + Guitar/Bass + Mic -----> mixer -----> computer
------------------------------- mixer <----computer
------------------------------- |
------------------------------- |
------------------------------- |
------------------------------- V
------------------------------- monitors

I also have midi cables going from the synth to the computer, but I'm not really concerned about that atm.

So here's my dilemma. When I have any sound going from one of my inputs to the mixer, the sound a) goes out to the monitors and b) goes to the computer, back into to mixer, and out the monitors. So, since I have two of the same signal going out to the mixers, I get nasty clicking and feedback. I can't figure out how to get Cubasis to read the incoming signal without returning it to the mixer, since I don't need it monitored. Despite this, I do want previously recorded material to be able to come out of the computer as well, so I can hear my previously recorded tracks while I'm recording the next one. My efforts with patchmix dsp and cubasis haven't given me what I want yet. As you can see, I'm somewhat new with this and am in need of a little guidance. Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Ian

I`m not hands on familiar with the mixer you are using, however the monitor signal coming from the sounds card to the mixer must be directed to your monitoring, and kept separate from the signal going into the computer from your mixer. Else you will continue to cycle the same information over and over in and out of your recording software in whats called a feedback loop. I believe in the 1202 you can send the outputs of the computer card to the "tape in" on that mixer and it can be assigned to the "control room/headphone outputs", then into your amp system for monitoring. Your main mix outputs are what you are sending to the emu card?

it would worlk like this

instrument--------mixer inputs. mixer outputs------>Emu card inputs.
Emu card outputs-------> tape in assigned to headphone out. Headphone out-------->monitor amp.
