Hey guys!
what up ?

So yeah, im an "amateur audio engineer" and i've been recording stuff for quite a while now... and im not an amazing producer or anything.. but i can come up with decent sounding material...

what i use is Cubase SX3 and bunch of effects with it... and i use a shitty ass 5€ microphone to record my stuff....

well... a few days ago.. i switched from windows vista to windows xp.. and re-installed cubase and all the other effects and etc... and well... i've been having problem recording since then....

whenever i try to record a track... all the other instruments are recorded with it as well...
(and yes i do use headphones while recording.. so its not because my mic is capturing the sound from the speakers) ... i have tried various options such as muting the line in and etc.. pretty much i've tried most options related with the audio hardware rather than tweaking cubase itself.... and since im not a very advanced user, im unsure of where to check for this error.... i've run most basic tests such as device setup and etc.. and the config seems the same as it was on Vista...
oh... also.. when i turn on the click track.. even the click track shows up in the recorded track... what ever audio my computer is playing shows up on the recorded track...
this has never happened to me with windows vista... and it is the first time im encountering a problem of this sort on cubase.....

could any1 please help me, or provide some information as to why this is happening and how could i set it up so that only the sound recorded from the mic shows up on the recorded track???

also... on a different note.. since at the moment i have very shitty equipment, i am thinking of buying a lot of new equipment... (pretty much a mini-home studio setup)
and i was wondering if any1 has ever used or owned the Yamaha MW10C mixing/audio interface console....

here's the link to the site im buying it from...

also.. what do u guys think of these mics ...

Shure PG57XLR (which i'll be using for recording guitars, bass and amplified instruments)

and

SENNHEISER E825 S (which i'll be using for recording vocals)

anyways.. thanks in advance for the help!!

peace dudes

In XP, the Actual volume control panel (double click on the speaker icon at the left in the taskbar) make sure Stereo mix isn't selected.

Haha, your welcome. That happened to me once before, and it took me quite a while to figure out.
