Or so it seems. I installed the card, set everything up. plugged in a mic plain old XLR dynamic mic and tried to get a level. It was very minimal jumping on the on-screen mixer.

Nothing. I did the same with an output of a stereo into line 3+4 in. Worked perfectly.

I then played with a few settings, and set the Variable Signal Levels on 1 & 2 from +4 to 0. I had more of a level, but nothing.

I then went to -10 and got an even high level, but I am only getting a humming sound.

Any ideas? I fear something is wrong...

(The jumper settings are at the default settings for mics)

It's supposed to!

The 2 XLR ins are balanced (as they should be) and "can be set via hardware jumpers to accept microphone level signals or line level signals."

They are set to mic level. (Almost positive.)

Hmm, just noticed something interesting.

I reset everything back the way it was.

Even with no mic connected, I am getting the same results.

Huh, I have just the opposite problem, no matter how I set the jumpers and software settings, my signal tends to be way too hot. Man I hate setting levels in the box.

alexbt...go to your m-audio h/w mixer....its in your control panel...check your meter screen to see if you are getting a signal.

something cool.....try turning down the levels in your h/w mixer

It has seemingly turned out that my card was defective. (It was factory resealed) I'm exchanging it for another one--maybe they'll give me a new one.
