Help! Monitor Noise!

Bought a Monster patch cord and ran from my laptop headphone jack to my studio monitors....and the playback results are tremendous except on quiet stuff when I can hear all my computers "bells and whistles" in my monitors. Hissing and crackling etc.....which disappears as computer shuts down. I tried moving laptop a few feet here and there but no help. Whats going on? :confused:
 
I think you're just running into the fidelity limitations of your laptop headphone output/soundcard. That, or possibly the patch cord you have is unbalanced? It could pick up noise in that case; but overall I'd suspect it to just be intrinsic noise in that output.
