ok so i bought a new delta 44 today and i've taught myself how it works and whatnot. On my computer i have 2 different soundcards (an audigy and the delta). right now i have the delta44 set as the default recording card and the audigy is the playback card. i can record and playback no problem.

my problem is that when i am just getting levels i cant hear anything. all i can hear is what i've recorded. even while recording i cant hear anything.

i am using cool edit pro as my recording software and i am using an mixer as my preamp

any suggestions? might it hafta do with the fact that i have nothing pluged into the outputs on the delta? im just figuring that i can use the same set of speakers for my computer as recording monitors

I there...didn't see any responses to your post yet, so thought I might give it a whack.

I have a Delta 44 myself. If I understand your question, is the problem that you are not hearing the current instrument you are playing while recording? (If not, maybe run the question by me again).

Since you are not using any outs from the Delta, the problem is probably in the settings of your recording software. I have Cakewalk, and I am sorry that I am not familiar with Cool Edit Pro, but you probably want to look for something that says 'input monitoring' or something to that effect to allow you to hear what you are playing while you are recording.

That's about all i'll offer for now until I know for sure I am talking about the question you are asking.

yeah you are answering the right question.

i just cant monitor any real time sounds. in order for me to get levels i need to hook up headphones to the mixer im connecting to the delta. its an ok way of doing it but im sure when it goes to the computer, the sounds change a bit so thats why i'd like to be able to do real time as well as for playback
