I used to teach fifth grade and constantly tolk the kids there are no dumb questions... so here goes.

If I record to a Fostex D2424lv will I be able to master on an Alesis Masterlink? I'm assuming I can, but I want to be sure I understand this. The Fostex is cheaper than the Alesis HD by about 400 bucks, but it gets good reviews everywhere I look..

Yes. I'm a newbie - though my last studio was mastered on a MasterLink. I liked the end result and it seemed easy to use. I'm trying to build a quality home studio since I now live way, way out here away from cities. Any help is appreciated.

Assuming you have a 24 channel mixer to mix with then the Masterlink would make a great mastering deck.

No there aren't... but there are plenty of stupid people! :p

(Mind you, I'm NOT suggesting you're one of them!) ;)

I'm a little confused by your question. You can master anything on a masterlink simply by importing by CD to its track list or by recording your 2 track stereo master to it. I have one, its ok for mastering I guess, well kind of,I think you would do better with a set of plugins for you computer. They would also be cheaper.
