Help...Masterlink 9600

I need some help. I made 2 CD's of my band for a demo. The first one when finished (done on ADAT tape machines, then into the 9600) , the guys said the songs were way faster, then the speed we played them,,,,,, tonight I made the 2nd CD using the tunes we recorded into my Alesis HD24,,,and low and behold, those tunes seem pretty fast also on the CD.

I thought I saw in the manual somewhere that you can change the speed of your tunes that you record in the Masterlink 9600>?>?> I will go back to the books, BUT we need to get a CD out tomorrow night to a venue, for a rather important potential gig. (If they hear Vertigo by U2 sounding like the chipmunks doing it, my guess is we wont get asked to play there..LOL....ok,,,its not THAT fast, but she is movin along) :D

Has anyone else experienced this "speed up during recording" happining with their Masterlink 9600? Also, could it be an adjustment that needs to be made to slow the burning process down??

Ok..I am off to read the manual again, but any input from you guys would be appreciated.

Also...to the guy asking about spending $600.00 for a Masterlink,,,go for it!! Besides this speed adjustment thing I got going on, this thing rocks!!

I just re-read the Masterlink Manual and found nothing reference pitch control. I did however also re-read the manual for the HD24 which does have a pitch control option.

This does not help me with my crisis because even when I mixed off the ADAT tape machines it was fast>?>?

Must be something in the Masterlink 9600. Anyone have any ideas>?>?

Hmmmmm ... not sure what the problem might be. I certainly haven't experienced it. I use it only for recording my own stuff, but I've burned probably at least a dozen CD's - mostly just 1-4 songs per CD. I've only burned mine using the Redbook setting, not the Alesis option. Check that setting perhaps, though from what I read it should work pretty much the same using either.
Let us know what you find out.

I have NEVER had any speed issues with mine. All recordings have been worthy of the impeccable reputation of this machine....
 
Check your sample rate setting. i have seen that cause issues with speed before.example your signal is comming in 44.1 but your masterlink is set to burn at 48k

Is 44.1 the standard coming out of an analoge mixer?? Last night I set up the HD24 and recorded my metronome at 120BPM. Then I played it back and it was right on the money. (both machines (the HD24 and the 9600) sample rates were at 48). Then I played it back into the mixer (like doing a mixdown) and into the 9600. Then burnt it onto a CD using the 9600. When I played the CD in a CD player, it was right on the money at 120 BPM. The timing matched perfectly.

Now we do the same thing recording a song as a band. But when we play that back it is way fast. I thought it was "Studio speed" meaning under the pressure or adreneline of recording we just played way fast, but on the CD its so fast the guitarists and drummer cant even keep up when trying to duplicate it playing along with that CD we just did.

Something is speeding up the process somewhere,,,,,but with the metronome, it clicked out all through the system at exactly 120 BPM. This click track only lasted for like 20 seconds if that matters. The tunes we record are much longer obviously if that makes any difference>?>?

Figure that out>?>?>?>? :eek: :confused:
 
If it's not sampling rate, and I suspect it is, have you got a feedback loop (that is your inputs and outputs all connected at the same time) cos that can mess up your clock timing.
