I have used and setup several different PCI soundcards on my desktop system running XP.
Currently running a EMU 1212M on a Quad core that for what audio stuff I do fantastic
Have run several M-audio cards.. never any real trouble setting them up.
However never set up or used a firewire card or set one up on a laptop / or on Vista.
Now I want to set up an Echo Audiofire 2 on a new laptop.
The laptop was provided by my work. All I wanted to do was set it up to do basic DI guitar tracks on Reaper while I travel (Which I will have to do a lot of in coming months)
I tried for a day to set it up and just could not get it to work.
I get nothing but a real scratchy crackley sound even at real high buffering settings. Tried everything I could think of.
The laptop is a HP running Window Vista Home premium.
With a AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core RM-74 2.20GHZ processor. 4 Gigs Ram .. 64 Bit operating system
Gave it up and have it packed up to return. Just thought I would ask for some help or advice here before I send it back.
Anything I may be missing? Is it some setting in Vista I'm missing?
