HELP! Can't get the kind of Wah-Freq sound i want

So i've been trying for like a week to do a single god damn sound for one of my songs, its in MIDI and the closest thing to it is this Best VGM 335 - Donkey Kong Country 2 - Forest Interlude - YouTube

What im trying to do is the kind of "Wah"/frequency-control sound like at the very beginning.

i've tryed step filter, EQ automation, wah, nothing works good enough! anyone has an idea how i could get to this sound,

i've seen remakes of the song able to do it like this one Donkey Kong Country 2 - Forest Interlude ~ Enchanted Wood (Dubstep Remix) - YouTube

Anyone that could help me out would definitively be rewarded with my gratitude :D


EDIT : I also tryed with tone boost and such but couldnt get a decent sound im so mad at myself! :@
 
This is just a guess but I'm probably right.

That was most likely not done with eq and done with the synths filter instead. What filter was used? No idea I'm not that versed in synths.
 
hmmmm, i am trying to do it with the Spector but i think Mystic could do it as well since they both work about the same, im not much of a pro in synths either,

do you know how i could do it with either Spector or Mystic?

You would have to automate the filter knob, I'm not in front of my rig so I can't walk you through that at the moment. I'll try to bob back in here later today.
 
I tryed that like you say and yet the sound just can't get high enough what else could i do im gonna try to add a stepfilter but im pretty sure it will just ruin the whole thing i'd have to find a solution INSIDE the synth...
 
GOD DAMN! I more or less fixed my problem, i used an LFO instead of an automation and im so happy it sounds like baby jesus! thanks for the help i love you
 
LFO is automatic but if it works it works. You can modulate more than just the filter freq with the lfo but if you are happen then yay!
