Hello. This is my first post here, so please be kind :)

I play in a four piece band and we have decided to have some kind of daw to record our new demo.

The setup I would like to sugest to my band is a Tascam 1804 with a Behringer ADA8000 to a laptop. All this laptop has to do is record 16 tracks at the highest, and then playback. All effects will be done on my music computer at home. The reason I want to use a laptop is to do the recording different places. The drums, bass and guitars will be tracked at rehearsal, while vocals, clicktracks, keyboards... will be done somewhere ells.

What kind of laptop (pc) do i need to do this? I have been thinking about a dell inspirion 9300 (Intel® Pentium® M-processor 770, 256 MB DDR2, 60 GB3 Ultra ATA-100-harddisc). Is this enough?

It looks like the processor is adequate, but you'll want much more memory...500 mb minimum with N O T H I N G else on that computer...even then, it would benefit you to edit the startup que just to keep things outta the processor bus.
I don't have alot of experience in the DAW world having only gone that route recently...I'm sure some others will be along with other ideas as well....good luck.
