Hi guys getting started to go in to the audio industry, but before i go to school at IAR (in Manhattan) i just want to learn some stuff.

im using BX5A Monitors,
Behinger Eurorack UB1204fx-pro Mixer, (http://www.behringer.com/ub1204FX/index.cfm?lang=ENG)
MXL 2003 Microphone and a
M-Audio Delta 66 AI.

My questions are how do i connect everything together. i am only using 1/4" connecters btw

what i want to happen is the i can control the volume outputs to the monitors and being able to record some vocals. I will need a detailed explanation on how to connect everything cause i am a newbie at this.(tell me the exact points in which i have to do the inputs/outputs to make everything possible, the picture of the mixer is in the above Link)

please take the time and help me i will greatly appreciate it !

thanks a ton

You are asking a lot. My question is, how did you know which equipment to get?

Did you buy all of this new?

Did any of it come with manuals?

Start there, and then we will see what we can do. :)

You're going to study audio as a career but don't know how to connect monitors to a mixer?

Hey Shane, welcome to the BBS. I used to think your name was soo cool when I was a kid :)

There's alot of configurations for setting up a mixer. It depends on what you are doing with it. Not sure what you want to record but here's a common way to hook it up to record one track at a time. Make all these connections with the power off too or at least with all the volume turned off.

First, you want to hear playback so you can play to some previously recorded tracks or songs. To do this you simply go from the 'line out' on your soundcard to the 'tape in' on the mixer. Then route your 'tape in' to the mains.

So lets say you put a mic in channel one. Route that channel to the 'alt 3/4' bus and also hook the line out from 'alt 3/4' to a line in on the soundcard. You can do this for all the insruments that you want to record.

Now you can playback, mix your sound to the playback in the mains or headphones while only recording what's routed to the alt 3/4 bus. Not sure if that'll make sense to you but I need to go for now. Good luck in school and enjoy!
