If i own an alesis multimix 6 usb, and a xlr mic with cables, do i need anything else for recording?
ha im sorry dude im new to this site and i didnt know i had to post things the way you like it...=)
Maybe you'll find a quicker answer in the Alesis forum.
yes dude obviously i was just wondering if i need something else like a sound card or a pre amp, Im new to recording vocals and i needed to make sure, but thanks for your answer i appreciate it.
LOL.... Look, pilgrim, when I go to Burger King, I expect to get my burger done my way! Their motto is "have it your way". That's what that dude is sayin'.
so..... think of your thread as an establishment in competition with other threads. You need neon advertisement to get anyone to look at you. When we enter into the thread, we expect to be pampered like babies with all kinds of freebies
and attention.
blah blah.....
Actually,
whatever information you can provide concerning what you have can really go a long way... It may not yield a meaty response but getting that info out there will give you better odds that someone might know the answer that can help you.
Also.... when you reply to someone, be sure to "reply with quote" this will alert that someone that you have responded to them. Simply clicking "reply" leaves the thread in limbo and you will start wondering if you're Kim Jong Ill wondering why nobody wants to play with you and at some point you just sit there and a far-away look in your eye begins to emerge.
Your mileage may vary.
btw, welcome to the forum.
Rob,
Hardware
Mic -----> mic cable ------> mixer ------> USB cable ------> Computer -------> soundcard
Software
You need recording software that will be compatible with your computer hardware and operating system (the sound card is obviously necessary)
Preamps are needed to power "condenser" type microphones. Check your mixer's documentation for further details.
I don't know anything about the Alesis unit. I'm here to rip on you about the thread title. You should choose a title that summarizes the problem you're having. Ninety-nine percent of the threads posted here are by people asking for help. So merely putting the word "help" or some variant thereof in the thread title is superfluous. Moreover, it wasted my time because I had to open the thread to find out what the problem was, only to discover it was something I don't know anything about. And now that I'm here in the dreary wee hours, I'm having to invent ways to put the time to good use by typing all of this. Smell what I'm steppin' in?![]()
Kids these days. Damn that rap music!
Damn that county music.![]()
