HEy um, I was just wondering, Im setting up a small studio in my basment with a budget of about 1000 bucks and Im using my computer. I need to know how I can set up my computer so I can use an analog mixer for postpreduction with my computer, OK?

THanks guy!s

That's a pretty vague question. Maybe if you can be more specific as to what gear you have (computer, etc.) and what you want to do you'll get more help.

uh, the computers a gateway pc, its got 80 gigs on it, umm, Im just looking for some help!

Ok, well if you want to get into multi-track recording you have some options available. A multi-tracking program like Sonar or Cubase will be needed. There are others out there, though. These programs will allow you to use software based effects amoung other things. You might also will want to look at upgrading your soundcard to something that will accept more than two inputs like the
C-Port or the Delta 1010.

There are other things to consider as well. For instance is your computer robust enough to handle the challenges of recording audio. You certainly have enough hard disk space. Is this computer soley to be used for recording. What OS are you using? Do you have enough RAM?

Then, is your monitoring system up to par? Are you using near-fields or computer speakers?

As M. Brane stated, more info is needed for us to try and help you. The above information should give you some things to think about though.

Be more specific on....

What's your current soundcard ? Sounds like you need multi I/O soundcard...

How much RAM ?

What's your OS ?

What's your audio application ?

etc... etc...

As for Mr. heyman109,

I'm not sure, I guess what exactly you need help with, but here's a little helpful guide it's for mackie mixers but the principles will still apply I believe. Click here. That link coupled with your own manual should point you in the right direction.

I hope this helps!
