Can someone recommend a headset below $300 with a wide frequency response? I am going to use it for dgital piano Yamaha P120.

I looked a few noise cancelling models that I can also use on the airplane. Bose QuietComfort 2 stil doesn't publish any frequency response, sensitivity, and noise canceling ratio like a few years back. I had bad lessons with them before on both Lifestyle 12 Home Theatre and QuietConfort 1. This time, I am likely to buy something else.

Sony has one MDR-N11, but the frequency response is frm 10H to 22000 H. Not too good I think.

I think that I need one that is up to 30000H to be decent.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I'm curious as to why you need wireless. Is it for live monitoring??? I'd personally recommend In-Ear monitors for live. If it is for studio I would keep the wire and go with a set of AKG 240S. But if you want wireless AKG makes the 206 wireless system (18hz-20khz), for under $100. I would imagine they live up to the AKG's legacy. I don't think your going to find many Ultra-High Definition headphones in a wireless model. Remember human hearing is only 20hz-20khz. Remember frequency response is only a small factor here. More importantly you should look more specifically at factors such as Driver design and published THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) specs. Some drivers can replicate the entire hearing range with very low distortion, even at extreme volumes (I highly recommend you stay away from extreme volume from heaphones though).

Thanks for the suggestions!.

I didn't mean wireless, I meant "noise canceling headset" that cancels ambient noise. But if none of the noise cancelling headsets have a good frequencey response and sound quality, I will just look for a regular HiDef headset.

If you can suggest any regular wireed high def headset under $300, I'd greatly appreciate it.

AKG 240S (or DF)
Sony MDR-7509
None of these are cancelling models.
The new AKG 271's were designed specifically around isolating ambient noise. I haven't heard them but if they are anything like their 240 series counterparts, they'll be a good bet.

Thanks! The reviews look really good. I will order it after my piano arrives.

Just purchased SONY MDR7509 from B&H. The sound is superb! The dynamica range is very wide. I can hear all the details. The blank noise is none. I compared it with my Bose QuietComfort I. The Sony MDR 7509 is way better in sound quality! Way better!

One problem I have with many Bose products (their speaker and headset) is that they do not publish any techical data like frequency range, response, etc. When you call them, they ask you to go to their show room to compare their product to NOTHING. Of course, when there is shoulder to shoulder comparsion, Bose always win LOL.

I agree about the Bose (Even KOSS blows 'em away).
The MDR-7509's are probably about the closest thing you can have, to having a set of studio monitors strapped to your head (Although I'm still an AKG fan).
