Hey there guys. A bit of a long question, however I would like to explain.

I write with interest on why this sounds better?

I have been making and listening to music, the before a couple/few years, the latter sinse I can remember. However, I have a really bugging question>

For a long time, I used to listen to music, with the Left plug/muff/cover in/on the left ear, the right on the right. However sinse about five or so years ago, I read that DJ's put the plugs/muffs/covers in/on the opposing ears. So the Left goes on the Right and you'll guess, the Right goes on the Left. Finally I get there, why does it sound so much better this way?

As I have once or twice done it the standard way (by accident) and it sounds week, and doesn't sound good at all. Tbh I've never understood it?

Could any of you help me with this? Is there some sort of science or something?

Yours Trancey

It sounds better because someone said it sounds better.

There is no difference.

I don't want to start an argument

I must admit I know it sounds strange but I think its true it does sound better, that way in the oposing ears.

If the cans are designed to cover better (if they pitch - Many do) they're probably not creating as good of a seal if they're on backwards. That could theoretically make them sound more like open-back cans... Theoretically...

What do you expect from someone that actually believes that a turntable is a musical instrument. DJs are so brain dead I doubt they realize that headphones even have a left and right side. Maybe they are just so stupid that they plug the wires in ass backwards.

I admit it sounds strange, however please try it, you'll understand when you do. Also I remembered where I'd seen it posted, by that DJ Ferry Corsten, who said on his vip made forum. 10 things you didn't know about him thing. It is a science that he wares them as the waves are better from listening to music with the oposite muffs/covers/plugs on.

This DJ Fairy guy must have been huffing glue or something. The frequency response of an instrument can't be physically changed just by listening to it with your other ear.

The Vic Firth isolation headphone (with audio cable) it's a good option to play drums? o

There should be no reason that reversing the sides would make anything sound better, unless it just fits your head better that way. If DJ's do it, it's probably because that way, their phones are in sync with the PA in that loud environment. Otherwise, the phones would be competing with the pa, and frequencies would be cancelling each other out, making what the DJ hears a less accurate representation of what the crowd is hearing.

I put my headphones on backwards and listened to some country music. Suddenly my wife came back to me, my truck started, I didn't get drunk this morning.........

I tried listening to some Beatle's tracks with my headphones backwards and I heard that Paul is Dead.
But that's backwards right?
I mean .... John is dead ......
wow .... this backwards headphone thing is enlightening.

If you had played it backwards with the phones reversed, then you would've heard that Paul is alive.

If I listen to Dark Side of the Moon with the headphones reversed and not on acid, will my mind be unblown?

But that was in quad, so how do I do that? Man, this is getting complicated...

Why would you listen to DSOTM and NOT do some acid??
