I want a fairly decent pair of headphones for $75, maybe a little bit more if there is a lot more quality. I mostly want to use these for monitoring because I know mixing on them will turn my mix into crapola and mess up the bass. So, I would like a long cord, but I could always buy an extension? I saw in another post about wireless headphones, sounds like a neat idea. Any comments, suggestions?
Thanks a lot,
Daniel

Yo Montana Man:

You can make your cans' cord as long as you want via stereo extension cords found at Radio Shack and all of the major catalog vendors.

However, the wireless cans are pretty cool and really make a vocalist relax as head movement does not pull on any wires.

I refer to the JVC stereo cans model ha-w250 RF which are 900 MHz and will project through walls. I listen to stuff sitting outside of my crib and enjoy a cold one when the weather is warm.

As to other cans, man there are cans from 10 pezzutos to big dollars -- but most of the crew here recommend Sony models and I always mention the Beyer 250 cans which I use in my studio. But, the wireless JVC cans are pretty nice.

Enjoy,

I am the singer and songwriter...not record anybody else right now.

If you are going to go Wireless phones, Sennheiser is the only way to go. AT least the RS-60, and the RS-80 if you can swing it. Not the greatest for Mixing, but work well for monitoring or like the Hornet said, running around your house and listening to music.

where is a good store I can check on these prices?
thanks

Bye the way, on the JVC cans, and others what is the frequency range(I think that is what it is called). 20hz-20khz?
Thanks

I found the JVC cans here: http://www.bulverdehometheater.com/jvcwirelessheadphones.htm
Pretty cheap, but I dont like the 50-12khz thing. Just doesn't cut it for me. I saw the sennheiser 60's for 100, but I dont know what the frequency response is. I am kinda starting to learn towards the sennheiser with a cord. I will be doing some mixing along with my monitoring and I think I am paying a lot for the wireless stuff and not getting as much sound quality as I would for the same price with cord. So, any recommendations with cords $75-100?
Thanks,
Daniel

You don't want to do ANY mixing on headphones... it just doesn't work that way -- do a site search - there's been plenty of info listed on the topic.

And if the cans are just for monitoring, extreme frequency response is not going to matter a whole heckuva lot, since you wouldn't be using them to make and decisions on sound or tone....

Yo Mountain Man:

Tecologia de 900 MHz de sonido superior!!!

If you get any more Hz going, your body will light up.

A lot of people on this BBS have raved about the Sony MDR7506 cans as being best bang for the buck. Freq response is 10 - 20000Hz, price everywhere is $99 US.

Do a search on this forum for MDR7506. Lots of good info about these cans and others in general. There are about 15 different threads.

Anyone tried the Yamaha RH3 ($35) or RH5MA ($50) cans. I need to buy several sets for monitoring and these look good. Also the AKG K56.
