I need a pair of headphones for playing/recording drums. I need something that I dont have to have the volume all the way up to hear the track I am recroding on. I would like to keep the price in the range of 100-150, unless that is not possible. I would like to use them for mixing also.
Thanks

buy the vic firth SIh1 for isolation. Mixing on phones is not going to be a good idea and these will not be that useful in that department. There only like 50-60 so that saves some $ so even if you get the cheapest set of monitors possible you would still be better served to have them both. But anyway the VF headphones are a must for tracking loud instruments if you are on that kind of budget.

I got some J-win jh-v100 headphones off of e-bay for about $20. I'm enjoying them.

i'm a big fan of dynasone's , pricey but worth it

i've enjoyed the SONY MDR7506..GC sells em about your price at $99.
Sony sells the ear pieces too if they rot out.

not sure about how good they are for drummer-head gear...
do you move around alot?

My review:
I'm a older gearhead, so I pretty much just sit and stare alot with the phones on. The headphones don't fall off under these circumstances.

The reason I asked if you move around alot is,
once I had this head jolting thing going on...
kind of in between sleeping and snapping back awake while sitting in my chair with the headphones on...
kind of a head jolt like thing....this happened numerous times i think?...
kind of a WHOOOOAAA damn...that hurts..must have jolted my neck waking up?... almost like whiplash!!!

Under this "Head Jolting" condition, the headphones did kind of slide off a bit to be honest.
I had to raise my arms to reposition them where they belong, other than that no issues.

They've had a lot of use for several years, still work.
maybe too much information?
:p :p

Im not worried about them falling off, i dont play drums that wild. I just want to be able to hear the other tracks thru the headphones without having the volume all the way up.

When I was being cheap, I'd stick a pair of earplugs in my ears, then put headphones on top of that. Now, I have a set of Extreme Isolation headphones. They work well.

Basically, it's basically a pair of what were once OSHA-compliant hearing protectors with a chunk cut out of the inside for a pair of cheap drivers.

I used to listen to music in a noisy workplace using hearing protectors over earbuds.
