Looking for the best all around set in the $200-300 range. For critical tracking and mixing. Needs to be comfy, too. Does anyone like the Sennheisers?

Yo Jimmy T of TNT:]

Cans? Heh, heh, heh. Before Bruce gets on line to tell you to research this site, I'll just say that there are many posts discussing cans.

But, as always, I like the Beyer 250s. And, you seem to want to spend a bundle. The Beyer cans run around 133 pezzutos. Sony makes a plethora of cans. The Beyers are a bit tight but loosen up with use. Nice and clear for tracking.

AKG? I've got a pair or two of those hanging around but don't use them any more. I also just got a pair of JVC "wireless" cans that are 900 Mhz and can be heard through walls in case you like to listen while you go and get a beer.

I've found that singers like wireless -- and they tend less to get tangled up and bump the mic and, "run it back to start" doesn't occur too much.

The Beyer cans have a very secure hookup with the wires and have both mini and 1/4 inch plugs.

Enjoy

Merry Christmas

I've got a pair of Sennheisers 565's. Great sounding and comfortable, but they have these maddening detachable plugs that never make a good connection. If I had it to do over, I would have got two pairs of AKG 240m's instead.

AKG 240's are the choice for headphone monitoring!

I have the AKG K141's. Recommended by my fellow VSPlaneteers.

I was watching a show on PBS recently about the making of the cast album for the Broadway show, "The Producers." All the performers (Nathan Lane, Matthew Broderick, etc.) were wearing K141's. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me!

About $80, I think.

This subject has been discussed over and over again.

Use the search function in the upper right corner and type in "headphones". You'll see that everone has a different opinion and they're all subjective, varying by each listener's personal preferences.

Want the BEST advice?

Bring one or two of you favorite CD's to the music store and listen to all the headphones you can, then make your OWN choice.

This question is like asking 10 strangers who makes the best pizza in town... you'll probably get 10 different answers.

I'd hate to put two pizzas on my ears.

Heh, heh....

Lots of good pizza joints in Chicago. The very best.

Miami has the WORST pizza in the USA! Imagine a pizza made by some guy from Cuba who's never even seen a decent, real pizza!
A friend of mine attended a medical conference last year in ChiTown and he actually brought me a pizza back- excellent! Man, if it wasn't for the snow, and wind, and Oprah......

give the sony 7506's a try.

and a large sausage/pepperoni/black olive

Senn HD600's, retail $449, normal disc. $349, sometimes can be had new on eBay for $249, at which they are a steal. Some consider them too good for monitoring and choose more modest cans (which are more indicative of what most people will hear). Depends whether you want the "best" or the "most commonly used."

Likewise, Etymotic ER4S, best deep-in-the-ear-canal speaker, about $280 from Headroom. Also probably far too revealing to indicate an "average" sound for monitoring purposes, but truly great nevertheless.

Both are temptingly within your stated budget.

Yo Buffalo:

It is the 12th day of December here in Grand Rapids, Michigan and NO SNOW ACCUMULATION, hardly any snow at all thus far.

Sorry to hear about the terrible pizza in Miami. Maybe Pompano Beach might have better pizza?

Hold the anchovys,

Green Hornet:D :D :p

That's wierd about the lack of snow this time of year- but it's still....what? 44 degrees?!!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I grew up in New Jersey, and could never live in the frozen north again.
It's 82 and sunny here. I'm going fishing on Biscayne Bay tomorrow. Some day I'll get to fish up in Michigan- excellent fishing there.
