So Im recording and one guy wants to hear only himself and clicktrack in the headphones, another wants the whole mix... and possibly another yet a new set of options. What is the best way to do this? is there a special headphone mixer I must use?

also, i want to purchase 4 pair of headphones... any good packages? i dont need super great headphones. decent will do.

usually this is done with a mixing board that has aux sends.

if you have two aux sends on each fader, you can create two independent mono cue mixes.

If you are in a band or play alot of live situations, you could justify buying the newest thing in monitoring. Its a 2 part system. The first part is a rack mounted piece that has up to 16 imputs. You can select to mono each, or group stereo tracks. From there it uses cat5 cable to the 2nd part, which is a personal monitor. It has up to 3 memory settings, and you can control the mix and pan of each of the 16 tracks. Its cool because from the back of the personal mixer, you can piggy back to the next personal mixer with another cat5 cable. You can have unlimited number of personal mixers chained to it, because its all based of digital signal running through the cat5. Its a little pricy, but its called the Aviom A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System. I am looking into using them in my studio as well as with my band.
