headphone amp/mixer...

I need somethin that will take the 1/4" mono outputs of my Mia and let me monitor through 3-4 sources.

All I really need is to be able to run something like 2 sets of headphones while tracking, and then be able to switch to a set of monitors/speakers when mixing.

Something like a headphone amp thats I can also run monitors and or a set off reference speakers off of.

Im not sure if a cheap mixer can do this or what I actually need. Im looking to go as cheap as possible. I dont think something like that should be too expensive.

Whats yalls suggestions...?

There's the Samson C Control. I've seen good magazine reviews, but people on forums say that it doesn't sound good, that it's not as transparent in the chain as it should be. I can't think of anything that's close to that price point...
 
LiquidBronze made that recomendation as well.

Being that it is an amplifier, can I use one of the outs to a set of monitors or reference speakers?
 
the C-control is your best bet....it may not sound that good so the only other choice is to do like I do.....i have the audiophile 24/96.... i have (2) Male RCA to 2 RCA female splitter cables....attach them to the left and right outputs...then i have a 2 Male RCA to 1/8 female connector that i have connect to one female split from the left and right outputs....then i have a 1/8 male to 1/4 male cable that plugs into my Headphone amp (Behringer HA4700 $99.99). the 2 RCA females are connected to the monitors...the signal goes to monitors and the headphone amp at the same time
 
oh yea and those splitter/connecter cables are less than 5 bucks each at radioshack

Its a 5 channel headphone amp. Im interested in it, because it has balance 1/4" left/Right stereo link outputs. Theyre supposed to be used to daisy chain multiple units, but I figure I may be able to use those outputs to send that signal to a set of monitors.

What do yall think?

Any other recommendations?

from my understanding.....you shouldnt have anything impeding the signal from your output source to the monitors to deliver the most accurate sound. however if your set on doing it that...it'll work lol...you'll still have to reach behind the monitors and turn them off though. i dont think the q5 controls power

I've used the Q5. You can run the stereo outputs into the inputs on an amp, but the volume control will be independent of the level on the Q5...in other words, turning the Q5's volume down will lower the headphone volume levels, but not the monitor volume levels. In fact, you don't even have to have the headphone amp turned on, which leads me to believe that the stereo outputs are totally passive (also, the mono/stereo switch doesn't affect the stereo output).

Im set on going as low as I can go price wise. I just need something to split the outputs of the mia without losing signal or power (ie: headphones)
 
What about Behringers Powerplay Pro if it could be had for cheap?

I have a couple of Samson Q5s - they're OK, and do exactly what they're supposed to. I also have a Behringer HA4400 which is a bit more flexible and I think is better made, but at the prices we're talking about here, the Q5 is pretty good value.

I like it, i love it, i want another another when i get the money for it. you can conbine them together and get a total of 8 front inputs with eq...its just treble and bass but well worth the money. and it can be yours for the low low price of $99!!!


bikini models sold seperately. prices may vary from state to state.
buyer pays shipping and handling and warranty is void if caught in the back room with uri behringer's daughter. use wisely and never wear headphones while operating heavy machinery.
 
I'm also enjoying my Behringer headphone amp. Thing is loud! I bought 4 sets of the MoreMe headphones to go with it and it's worked great for tracking.
