It really depends on how you plan to mix your recordings. If you'll mix with the console, you need 24 channels. But if you'll do the mixing in the computer, and only need a mixer for recording/monitoring: The M12 will get the job done. You'll have to do some repatching, but that's for free...

Thanks for the replies. After futher review, I believe Im going to have to go with the Tascam DM24. Tascam only yesterday put full directions on there site for getting these two units to work together.
It was this site however that put me in that direction. You guys are as always an invaluable source for otherwise hard to find information.
I running mine with a Mackie D8B, its a great setup! The only glitch is the jog/shuttle and the FF/RW are not written in the same code or something so they don't work off the D8B controls.
Whatever happened to the big remote they were supposed to have out for the HD24 by the end of the year? um....9 days to go!
