I just got my fireport hooked up and was able to transfer 6 tracks of drums to it as a test, from my computer through the fireport. I popped it back into the HD24 and recorded some guitars to the drums no problem.

So then I go to transfer some more drum tracks to different songs to the same drive. I followed the instructions from the manual but I get a "Hard Disk Failed Read Command" message that pops up when I start the FST program.

I retried the same proceedure a few more times and got the same message each time.

Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

It was a brand new drive....

Thanks all!

Well, after no replies here, but before throwing my hands in the air in discust, I tried to duplicate the procedure that had worked before.

By rebooting the computer with the HD24's drive hooked up and powered up, the FST software had no problem linking up. Sort of a pain to have to reboot everytime, but for now, it's all I got!

I wonder if the drive you are using might have some bad clusters or something.

Is it the stock cheapo drive that came with it? I have never had an error with the Fireport in over 2 years of use with it.

It's actually been working fine the past few days... my dad says computers are like women, when you're getting along with them, don't ask a lot of questions as to why ;)

The HD24 loves to 1/2 spit the drive out if its not pressed in there nice and tight, not thinking this is your problem, just somthing I thought I would throw in so that if you ever have the Faild to read error, you might want to take a look into that, more so if you have been switching Drives.

p.s. Dont take a hammer to it or anything, just make sure its clipped in well.

Your dad is a wise man! :D

Good to hear that everything is working. It must have just been a fluke, or as db suggested, it wasn't plugged in all the way.

I have had the "half plugged in" problem on numerous occasions in my DAW tower with different drives and caddy's.

Software

Anyone here who wants to share your Fireport software??
Please??

It faults on me all the time on my Mac. I have to log in as a user and the FW software functions.

Faults again even when I sign in as a root user. Just constant error's when I hook up my drive and open the software.
