Okay...

So, short and simple...Is it possible to use both analog and digital inputs at the same time on the HD24?

I'd like to take 16 channels optically from my board...then take 8 channels analog TRS from my mic pre's. Same signal. All on the same clock w/ same speed.

I tried this, but all I could get was...

- All digital worked and showed levels on all 16 optical channels
- All analog worked and showed levels on all 8 analog TRS channels
- When mixed 2 optical channels showed levels and all 8 analog TRS showed levels

So. something weird was going on. When I set it to analog/digital all the analogs would show up, but only Track 1 and Track 2 (which were digital 1-16 are digital) showed up.

Strange...Any help is appreciated.

Yes, assuming that you are up to date on your HD24 firmware. You need to be at least at version 1.12, but you may as well go all the way to the current 1.20 version.

Then use the utility menu to select which track pairs you want as analog and which ones you want as digital.

I'm not sure what you were doing wrong with the config that you describe above. Two possibilities come to mind: 1) The HD24 didn't have the correct mix of analog/digital inputs selected in the utility menu, or 2) the source device wasn't actually sending any signals except the two that you saw as active.

If you're still having trouble, go join the Yahoo HD24 group and ask there. You'll get LOTS of help.

As stated above, you should be able to assign your inouts in pairs I believe (not single inputs). I am not sure how much the firmaware has to do with it, but I know that in the past i have set up inouts to a mixture of analog and digital throughout the machine:)

Prior to version 1.12, the HD24 was not capable of using both analog and digital inputs at the same time. Alesis referred to version 1.12 (facetiously, I think) as the "Gilliland' release, because I was the person who had clammored for this capability from day 1 of the HD24.
