HD24 clipping

Anyone out there having trouble with distortion on the HD24? I am getting digital clipping even though the meters read -15 and below. It is random and does seem to happen on peaks. Otherwise the sound is great. What good are the meters if it clips before the meters say it should? What recording level do most people use on this machine? Help!
 
Hmmmm......that's a strange one. You have -15dBFS and it's clipping? I have to bang the top pretty hard to make mine clip. Are you sure you're not clipping on the way in? The inputs are +4 so if you're trying to get a full scale meter reading from a -10 source, you're clipping the preamp.
 
Sounds like transients clipping on the way in......... what exactly are you recording that you notice this on?
 
Same here, NO distortion EVER. I agree about checking the source, especially for a -10 mismatch.
 
No distortion here either, not until i hit RED that is.
 
I would say you may be clipping at the preamp by having an input too high, and perhaps, a low output.

When do you get this clipping? Recording what? Snare hits?
