I spent 4 hours today tracking a 3 song demo, and creating a rough mix.
I am happy with the initial results, I think it sounds real good, but it does need some more work to polish it up. SO, I was going to post one of the songs in the clinic to get some feedback. I ripped it to MP3, and it sounds like hammered wolf shit.

At 160k it sounds muddy as all get out, and at 220k it sounds thin.
I'm using "Audio Catalyst" to rip to MP3. I can rip it again using Nuendo, but aren't the encoding algorhythms basically the same?

I've seen long articals describing different appraoches to make mp3s and there are many options, too. I never read the whole thing cuz it got boring, but I am pretty happy with Sound Forge's mp3 encoder at 120kbs or above.

I've heard badly encoded mp3s with nasty highs, but never heard a "muddy" one. Try using your wave editor, I suppose.

I re-ripped the MP3 using Nuendo's MP3 converter.
Sounds a lot better.
I posted the song in the clinic under the thread "Sensory Overload".
