well right now im working in a mic mount based on the one i saw that those k & k mics use. when i finish it ill post a pic. it seems pretty easy to make. well if anyone has attempted this or something similar feel free to comment

I can't say that I have, but I know someone who tried to make a vocal mic stand out of a hockey stick...

Yep. I used two spring clips for each one. I cut several short peices, maybe 2 or 3 inches long, of pine dowel. I don't remember what diameter the dowel was, but it was just about right so that i could force thread the mic clips on each end. Then I drilled a hole crosswise through one of the clips and put a long machine screw with a wing nut through it and a washer on each side. I clipped this one to the rim nd cranked down the wing nut to secure it. They worked great and were relatively very cheap. For some stupid ass reason, I don't have them any more. I must have left them in the basement we used to practice/record in.

I've done something very similar to that but I used a standard mic holder like one on the end of a mic stand and used the converter to thread on the bottom clip wich was actually a spring clip and just clipped em on to whatever I need to. I also added xtra rubber to the clips to recieve less vibration from being clipped to toms and such. Works great for me and I think it cost me like $2.00 at radio shack and they even came w/ the converters.ive got like 10 of em.Very cost effective.

do you have any pics or a drawings of that to have a better image of it?

I've used the above mentioned clamp method for a long time in all kinds of situations... They can be handy.

In case you still don't understand the clamp or how the mic is attatched the following links are for the basic parts (Minus the mic clip)... Just put 2 and 2 together.

Mine are a bit different, but from a dollar kind of store.:

Coolest/weirdest tom mic holder I've seen were home/shop made and kind of hard to describe...., but I'll try:

A piece (of what you could call "Thin rod" OR "Thick wire" was bent into about a 3/4 circle just larger in diameter than the tom, but had "extra" straight wire beyond the circular bend.
Next a piece of rubber tubing was fed over the wire, then (This is the hard part) where the two parts of the wire 3/4 circle met, the wire had a bend straight up, then a bend back, then another bend up. This was done on both sides of the wire..., THEN the ends of each side were bent into a loop.

It might sound complicated, but if you saw it you would laugh at how easy it is... You see, you would push it together compressing the circle then set it in the rim of the drum and let it go so it would open up and grab, but not touch the head, then you simply pushed the two ends with the loops till they lined up, stick your mic in and let it go and the two loops would pull apart grabbing the mic!
(It took ALOT to squeeze it together AND get it back off!)

My buddy who did this also did an alternate version which was basically the same thing, but on the OUTSIDE of the drum rim...
(If you're trying to imagine it on the outside basically think of two inverted half circles..Push it together so they pass one another and make the "Circle" "Right", then let it go and it clamps the rim.) It was hard to access the "tuners" though AND (of course) both methods inhibited the natural vibration of the drum as well as being prone TO vibration of the mic...,But it still worked,

:)
