Has anyone ever recorded a beat boxer?

My house mate does the above and I'd like to put it to audio having not done it before.

Has anyone got any recommended techniques for such a recording? This will most likely be a bedroom recording by the way.
 
Not a "beat" boxer but I did record a former word ranked middle weight boxer. :D

Along with the pop filter Greg L suggests you might want to add a bucket of disinfectant to clean all the spit out of the windscreen. :eek:
 
dont they generally use a dynamic mic held close and covered with their hands when playing live?

I wouldnt use a condenser i dont think....unless you dont mind runing it ;)

Ditto...get yourself an SM58 and thow it away or better yet, charge the guy for it and give it to him as a consulation prize. ;)

I can say Ive had a world champion in my studio...Sumya Anani...the lady that took the title from Christy Martin.

You can get replaceable screens for an SM58 or a Beta58 for about 8 bucks.
