anyone tried playing jazz or any other style on a cruise ship? how much do they pay you?

I have a section about this in my book, $100,000/year in the Music Business, as well as addresses of several cruise lines to get you started on bookings.

www.musicbizbooks.com has it.

Why not just tell him here?.. That what this bbs is all about, helping each other... I can't see how you giving him a link to purchase your book is helpful to that style of community effort...

Anyways.. I'm not mad or anything, I just think thats not very cool way to go about things on a bbs where we all help each other.

Joe.

I've got a book with dozens of cruise ship bookers. I'm not going to type in all that info here. You can get it for under $20, which if you care, is not a big investment.

well, sir, you have EVERY right to not give up the information for free....but you have no right to tryand pawn your book off here.....check out your users agreement you agreed to when you signed up.....

I did a few cruise ship gigs many, many years ago at the time it paid $250 a week and included meals and lodge (which beat walking to shore every night).

I hated it at the time. The music was not enjoyable (can you say Tony Orlando & Dawn - or - The Carpenters).

The thing I really did not like - the cruise lines are very, very strict that you are the hired help and as such, you absolutely can not mingle with the guests (paying customers). We were very restricted in where we could go on the ship and when. We spent all our time playing - cause there was nothing else to do.

The good side was, I really got my brush playing (I played drums) together, cause everything had to be a very low volumn.

There were some really good players on the ships, but no one got to vamp much.

Oh yeah - make sure your reading cops are together.
